Capcom designs a problem to fix it with rare currency... =/
It's very limited while still in story mode though, but as crunchy mentioned, there will be more post game, including bottle caps.
So don't worry about it too much.
Yeah I know. Still, I think it's a poor design choice. But I'm sick of trying to hunt for a mon with a full bingo board, so I might need to invest in some drogas.
True but if you plan on min/maxing genes then it's not a bad idea to spend the first few on upgrading your stables.
I also wouldn't spend bc's for unlocking gene slots on anything under rarity 4 until post game unless you're making a support build or just really like the monstie's aesthetic.
Slots are cheap but not if you buy in bulk.
There's no reason to not do this, even in a run of the game where you don't plan on wasting too much time with sidequests and stuff. You're just missing out on doing extra damage when you attack, and if you're talking about not messing with bingos at all vs just filling the slots up with something that gets you a bonus, it's a literal night and day difference.
Fill the bingos up with something, preferably same element skills or attacks at a minimum. Non-element is the easiest type to fill up, Fire would be the 2nd most common type.
I used pukei-pukei until level 49. A pukei-pukei I obtained from a rare den in the first area of the game. Bingos matter enough where a pukei-pukei with a full bingo hits harder than a Nergigante that you didn't mess with the bingo on at all.
You could honestly use Aptonoth, Pukei-Pukei, and Ranmar, and beat the game with those 3 monsters, without worrying about leveling up any others through the story. They're all neutral element, 1 power, 1 tech, 1 speed. Boatloads of skills and attacks you could slot in any of them, and you get enough to full bingo them pretty much as soon as you unlock it in area 2.
Aptonoth's kinship attack is one of the best in the game, it's a guaranteed topple, even against monsters you can't otherwise topple. So, not only could you easily beat the game, you could also beat any of the royal monsters using those 3, and any of the (hard) sidequest missions as well. Like, as soon as they're available.
