You should verify the game cache to make sure everything was downloaded.

When the game first runs it should install "directx_9c_redist" and "dotnetfx"...did it do that? If not, you have an "installers" folder in your installation folder where you can run these manually.

Do you have an AMD video card by any chance? This may be a Physx issue, and I could only guess at how to get around that (I have NVidia). Maybe you need the "legacy" Physx driver package installed along with the current Physx driver?

As a last resort (I used this method for Divinity 2) you could try to use DXwnd to start the game.

Switching to a single core solved all my problems (running Windows 8.1).

how do you switch it to run on a single core?
xsys Sep 6, 2014 @ 10:20am
You can use the task manager, right click on the process, select affinity.

thanks thats an option at least when it is already running.
xsys Sep 6, 2014 @ 2:54pm
Well, you can use DXwnd[sourceforge.net] as a launcher for games that need certain tweaks like this. The affinity setting is on the "Compat." tab, select "Set single core process affinity".

interesting I will check that out. For I have been able to run it and alt tab out to set affinity. Its actually a pretty decent game.
