the state of this slop
while i haven't played a ridiculous amount of hours i have had this game for a long time

from playing the beta, to entering season 1 and then finally coming back for season 7 (the possible finale)
I've seen this great concept not improve on its flaws but become so much worse

being on eu servers you cant find games reliably, most of your games will be with the same people and then you're either matched up with absolute re***** or Z5 sweats where you might actually be able to play the game but its not very fun when they SOS gaming because baby level 3 is too hard :(

Region locking is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid, enough said everyone has talked about it.
its a huge problem and is holding the game back

the gatcha system is awful
i barely have any worth while skills yet on a 10 regular summon i'm getting 2-5 repeats.
I'm still at such a disadvantage because the skills i have aren't "META"

there's no reason to not have voice chat for survivors, you're at such a disadvantage on soloQ
its either one of two things
premade survivors have every single advantage including voice chat or everybody's running around like a headless chicken because someone forgot the ping tutorial

i will continue to play this game because sometimes its really, really fun
but i cant blame people for leaving when the devs clearly want this game to die so they don't have to work on it.

once i revert to a live service slop i must bury my player base under 3 years of queue time there my game will die.

Now that the 2X bonus ended ... the most I will do now is see if "ANYTHING" is in my mail box and close the game LOL

Season 7 is 100% short lived.

Yeah I was actively playing just due to the 2x and even with that the queues were beyond awful these past few days (like 30 minutes to find a game east coast). Now that that's over I'll just be doing the daily tickets, only thing on the event schedule I'm even slightly looking out for is the shop update for new voicelines.

The gacha system was a huge mistake. Dead by Daylight allowed you to "buy" characters and earn their skills by leveling up.

And the changes to the Raider selection and region matchmaking are another two big red flags that hurt the game.

And a personal pet peeve of mine for this game is the cycling of the outfits in the shop. Why? Why can't I buy the clothes I want and if I miss it I'm tough out of luck for months? Or maybe forever?

So many things. I'm glad I got it on sale, but even then... it's just hard to enjoy it especially when players just use cheap tactics. I'm glad I never spent money for in-game purchases ever with this title.

That combined with the end of Magenta's golden registry have SIGNIFICANTLY reduced the incentive to keep playing, because aside from logging in for your daily and weekend bonuses at the mail box, there's nothing in particular going on.

lol my comment was to buzzsaw really, playing just to collect things and not to actually play the game seems a bit silly to me. collect them so you can not play? collect a bunch of crap you'll likely never use? games are supposed to be fun. I have fun with this game still, although the damn connection issues are more annoying than raiders/survivors who play like they'll die if they don't win. perhaps buzzsaw gets fun out of collecting things?

you said you only played beta, season 1 and came back for season 7, yet you comment on Z5? seems odd, when have you ever played ranked? and you talk about Baby, perhaps you meant season 6?

i mention z5 as in a term for sweats
and i still get baby matches

ah you're using it as a derogatory term hah gotcha! yeah it's brutal but it can go both ways too. Raider who is obviously gonna win tries real hard to end the whole lobby... seen that a couple times today.

I tend to let everyone live when I am a raider and it can really bite me in the butt. Like I purposely don't camp and if I knock someone down who's been knocked down I don't end them. Last two games I only BARELY won by focusing the STM then becoming a survivor. they chase for two minutes after it's destruction instead of escaping.

A recent one... had a whole lobby of 7 get me down to 1 shot left after the STM was down, Used an AD to buy time then instant decent to escape the level 3's supers coming at me. Only one level 2 had any charge left after I ran again, so I went into a cave with about 15 seconds left as a level 3 baby and turned and used the ball super.... the level two chased me into the cave, got knocked out of his charge and the escape was right there behind him, outside the cave... I even melee'd him into it after knocking him outta charge lol. If he didn't chase me into the cave he could have hopped on and escaped but I guess some people really want to win. Instead all seven lost. Is it really worth it for the win vs the escape and live?

Doesn't dead by daylight sell IP characters like bill/wesker that come with survivor perks?

TLDR: Yeah I like collecting things :steamhappy:

For a game like this, there's usually something to earn. To me, that's part of the gameplay loop, and aside from the players themselves its the main aspect distinguishing matches from each other. For weeklies, you might change your tactics or even your build to complete them on purpose. For collection events, it makes it so the first five boxes have an extra punch of dopamine, since you're also making meta progress outside the match itself. Little things like this add up, and when you suddenly don't have them anymore it feels like a part of the gameplay loop has been lost, even though the actions you take aren't all that different.

Every tangible thing obtained is a small accomplishment, which is why I like earning cosmetics even if I will rarely if ever use them. Its also why I dislike the bloat of currency-based rewards in the dragonpass, as they feel a lot less "real." Having a silly little shirt with a "Z" on it is a fun thing to have IMO, even if it looks subpar, because it shows "Hey! I earned a lot of imaginary points during some arbitrary allotment of time! That's cool!"

dont forget it's a gacha system in a *paid* game. this game really should have been free to play. no way am I getting a group of friends to pay for this and I'm not a fan of playing with random people
Honestly
for $5 I was a liiiittle tempted then I read reviews and how there's queue times etc.
I'll wait until it's F2P
and if it's delisted before then, unfortunate they should've priced it more reasonably at launch ($10)
