Season 7 is 100% short lived.
And the changes to the Raider selection and region matchmaking are another two big red flags that hurt the game.
And a personal pet peeve of mine for this game is the cycling of the outfits in the shop. Why? Why can't I buy the clothes I want and if I miss it I'm tough out of luck for months? Or maybe forever?
So many things. I'm glad I got it on sale, but even then... it's just hard to enjoy it especially when players just use cheap tactics. I'm glad I never spent money for in-game purchases ever with this title.
That combined with the end of Magenta's golden registry have SIGNIFICANTLY reduced the incentive to keep playing, because aside from logging in for your daily and weekend bonuses at the mail box, there's nothing in particular going on.
you said you only played beta, season 1 and came back for season 7, yet you comment on Z5? seems odd, when have you ever played ranked? and you talk about Baby, perhaps you meant season 6?
and i still get baby matches
I tend to let everyone live when I am a raider and it can really bite me in the butt. Like I purposely don't camp and if I knock someone down who's been knocked down I don't end them. Last two games I only BARELY won by focusing the STM then becoming a survivor. they chase for two minutes after it's destruction instead of escaping.
A recent one... had a whole lobby of 7 get me down to 1 shot left after the STM was down, Used an AD to buy time then instant decent to escape the level 3's supers coming at me. Only one level 2 had any charge left after I ran again, so I went into a cave with about 15 seconds left as a level 3 baby and turned and used the ball super.... the level two chased me into the cave, got knocked out of his charge and the escape was right there behind him, outside the cave... I even melee'd him into it after knocking him outta charge lol. If he didn't chase me into the cave he could have hopped on and escaped but I guess some people really want to win. Instead all seven lost. Is it really worth it for the win vs the escape and live?
Wait, you are supposed to play games? I thought you where just supposed to grind for loot and achievements in games.
TLDR: Yeah I like collecting things
For a game like this, there's usually something to earn. To me, that's part of the gameplay loop, and aside from the players themselves its the main aspect distinguishing matches from each other. For weeklies, you might change your tactics or even your build to complete them on purpose. For collection events, it makes it so the first five boxes have an extra punch of dopamine, since you're also making meta progress outside the match itself. Little things like this add up, and when you suddenly don't have them anymore it feels like a part of the gameplay loop has been lost, even though the actions you take aren't all that different.
Every tangible thing obtained is a small accomplishment, which is why I like earning cosmetics even if I will rarely if ever use them. Its also why I dislike the bloat of currency-based rewards in the dragonpass, as they feel a lot less "real." Having a silly little shirt with a "Z" on it is a fun thing to have IMO, even if it looks subpar, because it shows "Hey! I earned a lot of imaginary points during some arbitrary allotment of time! That's cool!"
for $5 I was a liiiittle tempted then I read reviews and how there's queue times etc.
I'll wait until it's F2P
and if it's delisted before then, unfortunate they should've priced it more reasonably at launch ($10)
