Ranked was a mistake and should have never been added with the way the playerbase acts/plays
You can lose rank just cause someone comes to the spawn immediately downs you before you can get level 1, can camp you or leave but if you get revived they can come right back and just remove you from the game, you lose a ♥♥♥♥ ton of rank progress when you had no way of dealing with it. The game in general links the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ medal system to too much; rank, zeni, and exp. Combine the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ queues and you can be wasting your time for nothing.

This game was not made for competitive play. Even with nerfs on both sides, the game is miserable to play if you're genuinely going for Z rank
Exactly, it's a friggen party game, not an esport. They need to stop trying to make it that way.
I miss the old fun days when ranked NEVER existed ... but now it's just sweat / clean up the lobby in 2 seconds + ANY FORM OF CAMPING.

Plenty of ways to counter a rushing raider. Having immortal champion is one of them, or shape shift camo against broly.

You need to play precautiously to avoid spawn rushing, predict which direction the raider will go at the start based off where you would go if you were raider (easier if you play raider regularly and know the civ' spawns, or player spawns in Broly's case). I just got Z5 while solo-queuing the other day, and you've just gotta play a safe build and prioritize doing things that give you medals while not taking unnecessary risks (likewise if you're predicting a loss even if you went all out, then just ETM, it prevents you from losing any progress towards your next rank). The build I used was Energy Field, Galactic Patrol Ship, Grappling Device, and Shapeshift Bat, basically I'd stealth everywhere with Bat and then to escape I'd pop EF + Jaco then immediately cancel the ship and Grapple into Bat [you've gotta go all out with your escape skills like that if you want to hit Z5 without a premade, otherwise you'll eventually get stuck in a loop at a lower rank from dying too frequently (I got stuck at Z3 for awhile till I switched from Grapple + Flash of Rage to EF + Jaco + Grapple)].

Ew immortal champion; that thing was supposed to be nerfed based on this season's patch but looks no different in terms of distance thrown, plus back when it came out raiders would tunnel me after triggering it when I tried it out for some time so I see no reason they would change by this point, plus the damn thing loves being at terrible angles/constantly get caught on every little thing.

This is all way easier said than done, if I leave my spawn; usually this uses up my active skills so now I'm down a Grapple or whatever, raiders tend to still find me and now I definitely can no longer escape cause I have no grapple and am still lvl 0. Plus my builds are all very thematically niche and stuff. I dont like the idea of having to NEED to make a specific build just to make any progress in anything; such as all the people currently running nimbus just to keyrush raiders and all having IC, like seriously ew. ETMing is 9/10 times out of the question, if I get that far the raider just ends up knowing exactly where I am before I can get out and kills me or ends up blowing it up cause I can't leave fast enough (I refuse to SOS, I haven't even put a single warrior spirit into that stupid thing).

Well in the situation you mentioned on Snowy Mountain, you could either immediately Grapple towards D as a precautionary measure, or immediately go into the water and start gathering resources there while swimming towards D. If you go into the water and Broly shows up and gets into heartbeat range you wanna immediately stop moving to avoid making noise and Grapple towards the water in D, if you hear him shooting at other people or buildings in C you then continue on with your business but if you don't hear any signs of him stopping you'd then wanna find someplace in the water to hide and then simply stop moving if he gets in heartbeat range again. Broly's got zero way to detect you outside of noise and seeing you directly, and it's unlikely that he'll potentially waste time before people reach level one searching every nook and cranny if he doesn't get any inclination that someone's there.

As for using whatever build you want that's fine as long as your goal isn't reaching Z5, but if it is then I'd say you're severely screwing yourself over by not having an optimized build. It was already obnoxious enough for me using optimized builds, and like I said I got stuck at Z3 for a good while just having a build that was marginally less optimized than the one I switched to after that.
My goal is to have fun AND hit Z5. I'm just being forced to do both cause they dont separate ranked from normal gameplay so I don't have much choice in the matter. As for optimized builds I don't even know much about that other than various meta junk exists or whatever and I refuse to make any dumb meta or cookie cutter builds that is just boring.

Everyone is currently running Nimbus for example cause it's busted with such a short cooldown combine with the movement speed boost and Launch item pick up ability for example, I find that combo lame. IC I consider dumb cause for one you can't tell who is running it till you attempt to hit them without a shield since you would normally expect a down and can execute get energy and progress with the match but no, they get away scott free unless you just happen to get lucky and they bonk a wall or something or you are one of the few raiders who can snipe where they possibly land IF the person doesn't cancel it early, then you also gotta keep track who the hell you proced it off and who you didn't. Stuns are still prominent as ever, even more so with the Go-go gum buff, I see Flashbang constantly too, etc. Also been seeing Flash of Rage nonstop cause that's just an outright better Power Unleashed. There's just a lot of abused skills right now and it's just outright stupid and I'm saying this from both the survivor and raider side cause raiders also have their issues. Also don't even get me started on seeing the same small handful of super attacks.

@Senku Niola, immortal champion is easy make it so you go towards the direction you want. If you are having issues, that is likely due to lack of practice.

You can also run it + angry shout to cancel the falling animation towards the end, and then just call a pod if you want. Regardless, it is a team game. If the raider chases you for 15-30 seconds, then you immortal champ, then travels 400 M just to execute you, you bought your team almost 60 seconds. It is a team game after all, not a game where you must not die at all to win.

EDIT: Guys, can we type "enter" after like 2-5 sentences please. So many great walls of text here... I can't read it.

Hell I've been in plenty of matches where it's been unsafe to do ANYTHING; can't save civs/place keys/look for supplies cause raider is in the area, other times said area is just already cleared out cause everyone else passed through especially lately with the stupid nimbus spam.

I get seen by the raider well screw me, nobody helps me escape so I'm just stuck being tunneled/camped while the rest of the team cleaned out the map, sometimes I'll get revived other times completely ignored and bleed out, I'll be lucky to get the "Self Sacrifice" medal, like big whoop one medal. What purpose was I in that match for at that point?
