But crazy is, that this is currently the norm, next to never going above 300 players anymore.
Over the season you always had a time of the day, where it goes over 300 atleast. The current situation shows that Breakers gives nothing to do anymore. It's the end of the season after all. When people aren't having any fun with the gameplay-loop, then there is little reason to play the game right now.
Especially the gotcha system progressively getting worse instead of better, and the removal of being able to get raider while queued with friends.
Also queue times getting longer drive players away which causes queue time to get longer... The queue time death spiral.
However its not the only issue the game faces at its core as the gotcha system burns a lot of people who don't get what they want from it even if they pay causing them to leave.
Also the game's gotcha system is one of the worst on the market as it has no real pity system. Which is a standard even for the greediest F2P gotcha games.
there is no debate or discussion about it, the player count dropping to soon single digits is the most in your face impyrical evidence you need and if that doesn't satisfy you then idk what will
it's been a good run, 500 hours on this junk and would I do it again? absolutely not.
The developers still haven't addressed cheaters/bots and refuse to take meaningful steps towards unfun gameplay mechanics (Alt+F4ing Survivors and body camping Raiders).
They removed raider queueing with friends, so you have to suffer solo queue if you want to play the most enjoyable role.
The gachapon system baked into a pay-to-play game is fairly insulting, but it's getting worse on every update with the release of more powerful skills at lower drop rates.
Finally, the game isn't very concerned with its players having fun. If you play a silly, unoptimal build against a strong raider playing to win, you're probably going to earn terrible medals (so terrible experience and currency for the gachapon) and be a detriment to your team in a heavily team-focused game, which is just no fun for anyone. Or, if you play a very powerful build against a raider relaxing and trying to ensure the whole lobby has fun, it becomes a stomp where the raider suffered up to 3 hours of solo queue (due to terrible matchmaking and low population) for a garbage game, and the survivors had a boring 2-5 minute round. Either way, very frustrating.
The most obvious solutions are to allow queueing raider with friends again and establish a proper reporting system so the players can handle teamers/bots/cheaters, and ease up on earning rewards (solo queuers could maybe earn more zeni overall, instead of survivor ques earning more). But, I'm not hopeful.
Also, grouping up shouldn't be a requirement to enjoy a game. Period.
To be fair, at this stage of the game, since the only people who play it are those that enjoy it a lot and sweat a fair bit (me included), you can actually make do pretty well even in solo queue. I play Solo Queue exclusively and I'm enjoying myself.
