SOS is one of the best Passives
For those who don't know what SOS does, at +20 it allows you to summon the Emergency Time Machine at twice the speed it would normally take to do so.

Now what this allows is that, if a match is going tits up which happens way more often then you think and I would like, you can try to use one of the Blue Beacons to get out of there and escape, giving the ol Cell 2-Finger Salute to those left behind who will now die, or already died.

Some will argue "Having SOS slotted implies you have no faith in your team."
And that is correct. Too often you'll see people really crap their pants. Drop the ball. Screw the pooch. A real fumbler of a player comes along.

Maybe they'll get caught by Saibaman within 20 seconds of the match starting :torielsad:
Maybe they'll drop all those dragonballs they horded in front of the raider cause they couldn't escape after putting themselves in harm's way like a real dum dum :alphys:
Maybe they'll not do the objective when there's a clear window to do the objective :tobdog:

Who knows! The choices on how they'll screw up are endless! Just when you've seen it all they bust out the WOW factor of Yamcha like plays!

I couldn't even begin to tell you the number of times I've sat there and escaped because SOS let me summon the machine quicker then a cell raider could say
"Once I revert to an egg I must bury myself underground for three years, there my form matures."

It has even escaped Great Ape Vegeta and he had this to say

"I could see everything but I couldn't see how that blasted fool escaped out from right under my nose! They dare make a mockery of me!? The Prince of all Saiyans!?" - Great Ape Vegeta

So if you don't have it slotted, I'd recommend doing so.
Because at the end of the day... who better to look out for you, then you?

It’s a good passive when every game goes badly

Some peeps argue that it’s a passive that indicates you’re not giving it your all

I'd say it's an amazing passive for those not willing to Senzuicide in front of the Raider for priority, but know that they're gonna get stuck with people that endlessly fumble the bag. It's an amazing pattern I've recognized as I go to do my "Raider-only" weeklies, forcing me to deal with the absolute torture that is solo que. Be Survivor, the entire lobby is a mix of like three LVL100+s, and then you have four people that are barely LVL20-ish.

But the moment you get your Raider match, apparently all that gets thrown out the window as you're thrust into a slideshow of your villain of choice getting ragdolled by the sweatiest 7-man squad ever known to the face of the universe.

Let it be known that the only reason you see Vegeta and Frieza Raiders is because nobody wants to play a Raider that's going to get interrupted by 5 bajillion rockets every attempted execution, have completely inferior toolkits, completely inferior supers, completely inferior Ki Blasts.

A Cell can't win against a 7-man unless they get VERY lucky. Buu has the same exact problem to an even WORSE degree because people have learnt to just jump Spopovich. I'm a LVL99 Cell and I'm not getting Cell to LVL100 until he gets completely overhauled to not be the laughingstock of the Raiders despite literally being the posterboy for the game. I'll always pick Frieza/Vegeta because they're so OP that you CAN win a round against a 7-man.

Just had another match where SOS +20 saved the day.
STM was active but there were four of us left.
And three were downed next to the STM, which was at like 20% done.
If I went down, it'd be instant game over. So I sat back and waited for the raider to blow the machine and escaped. Anyone with half a brain could see trying to revive someone was suicide as the raider would hear me with how close they all were.

Thanks SOS!

My solo queue experience has been pretty great

It’s just that I haven’t queued in a party since I installed this game

Stay solo my friend, once you taste the power of even just one consistent teammate that's always got your back, you can never enjoy solo que the same way again.

I have one friend I play with. Both me and him have Instant Transmission and it makes coordinating so awesome

A waste of a slot imo, it might help if you're the very last survivor alive where the raider will be relentless in guarding the beacons but 2 people on one beacon is fast enough that it's a guaranteed escape unless he's in your face.

I mean... yeah?

Like... having faith in your team is one of the riskiest gambles ever. Especially since it always feelslike the team want to actively combat the level 2 Raider while only ONE of them are level 1s, and THAT player having already fled.

Nom nom nom

Jester award, gimme steam pointz

Didn't read any of that.
Wasting a passive slot and then sitting on a beacon spawn for the last 2 minutes of the match to potentially change a bronze medal to a gold one is not something I can respect or condone in any fashion.

If you run SOS without there being any ETM weeklies that need doing then I hope you can find it in you to take a step back and seriously reevaluate your priorities in this game.

Or you could work with your team, just a little bit, so that you're not the only one calling the ETM.
Which would also speed up the call time.
Freeing a passive slot for something useful.

S.O.S. Is bad and promotes bad teamplay.
