Question about Scouters

Okay so what's the point of these things as a usable item, not the cosmetic?

It lets you see the other survivors which seems like it'd be useful... were it not that survivors can see the names of others even through terrain.

Okay so maybe the Raider can use it? Apparently not since the game itself explicitly says: Raiders can only pick up Radars and Dragon Balls.

Well maybe it's to help you find the Raider? Well you have the heartbeat and music to tell you when he's close... and there are SEVEN SURVS in every match. One of them is BOUND to look at the Raider and, as such, mark where he is for everyone.

So... what's the point of the Scouters? Especially since it stops you dead in your tracks to use it.

It's to help you locate exactly where are the civilians imo. But the better you get at the game the less need for it you'll have.

I tried using it on a raider and my scouter just exploded when i detected him sooo... yeah, just to see the location of civilians more easily and the raider for 1 second only.

spot where civilians are in complex areas like weirdly placed caves and buildings so you can get to them faster and not waste time where the raider might spot you

It helps you find civilians but the fact you cant use it while moving and its short range makes it pretty useless. Once you have the locations of where civilians can spawn memorised you will be better of carrying another item on you.

Really? Thats a fun feature, didnt know that. But yes, it makes the scouter useless then.

Once theyre too close it explodes cause its readings are off the chart. I usually use it to judge the distance the raider is

The scouter doesn't really have a great range in the first place, heartbeats increasing gives me a good idea of their distance.

Why not use the Civ radar then? Since you're still mobile while using it?

But the Civ radar is a much better item which nullifies the Scouter in that case thanks to being able to MOVE while using it

Specifically, for the reasons you mention above OP, I just toss it whenever I get the chance.

Thankfully, you get more barrier devices and rocket launchers than scouters.
