Dragon Ball the Breakers has reached its breaking point for me. I've been playing this since the Open Beta, the world's most foolishly Yamcha cultist with 1500 hours (700 in queues). MetaYamshi himself. And I'm done. Dimps, you have ultimately failed me.

This game always had problems. It's an asymmetrical multiplayer game, it's going to have balance issues; the game favors survivors while single survivors are so weak and helpless on their own. So premades are considered overpowered while playing with randoms is far too unreliable for a game with a battle pass to unlock the few things not up to the gacha slot Gods of disappointment (my friend still never 100% Videl). And I put up with all of it. Raiders bouncing back and forth between tissue paper and canonically OP, learning the hard way which skills are actually useful enough to justify having on my builds, Cave_Of_ , Key Camping, Buu being more of a joke than Yamcha, ALL of this game's problems were worth it to play with friends and the early community.

Because back in the day, you got a variety of players. The Raider might be a try-hard, it might be a newcomer, it might be a mid-level player, it might have been a joker who wanted to mess around, it might have been someone wanting a 1-on-1 duel with a level 4. They might just be a bug on a wall. But that was then. Now, it's solely the competitive side of the community going all in as either survivor or raider. It was worth the lengthy queue times because the die roll of the experience helped keep things dynamic. Once the game devolved into either new players or Vegeta Sweats, it just became a grind for battle pass stuff that I may or may not use.

So when playing with my friends was the last thing keeping me going, with the 7 Yamcha Squad trying out an un-optimal build to show teamwork trumps the meta... they rolled in region lock. The use of VPNs and Crossplay helped mitigate that for a time, but it still made it a pain to play with friends. And that's the problem. This is a multiplayer game that doesn't want friends to get together and play. You can't have a party of 8 play and get battle pass progress, because apparently, the battle pass progress is more sacred than the player base they're desperate to hold on to.

THAT much became apparent with coastal lock, or as my friend accurately calls it, time zone lock. Now, I can't even easily play with friends in the US because they live too far away. And this is on top of the many problems the leftover community has: feeders, lag switchers, hackers, body campers, stun spammers, the awful grind for the battle pass with increasingly weak rewards. If people didn't write this game off so quickly, YongYea would be making a monthly video on the state of this game.

Between everything that's happened with this game and the fact that live services are a dime-a-dozen, I'm left with literally no reason to play this game anymore. I'm uninstalling the game, and unless season 6 is a come-to-Jesus moment, I'm done.

And to think, they added the Yamcha Baseball outfit just in time for me to retire it.

Matchmaking is trash, frequent 10+ minute queue times, only thing crossplay added was laggy matches with console raiders and region lock.
Here's to hoping season 6 addresses this along with the obvious game balance issues, but hopes aren't high.

It is a really good game once you understand how to play it and how the upgrade/ability system in the game works. The UI is pretty bad at explaining these things, and the tutorial could've been better. I've even watched this game on youtube, through gameplay/tutorials, and none of them just explained "when/why" you do something, just "do this". So really, maybe it isn't the developers fault, as even community members struggle to really teach you the basics of how to gain new abilities/passives.

I will say, I highly recommend just queueing as raider, to try and get it. It's been the most fun I've had on this game, a total of 6 matches. I usually play with a friend, in which you cannot actually queue as raider at the same time, otherwise I would have more raider games.

Raiders have access to most of their potential from a new player perspective, and are easy to get into.

Survivors, I've had probably 6 good games. 5 were a win, 1 was a loss, but it was close. The other games are either people not understanding the game (mostly due to their low ranks, so I don't blame them), but we are up against raiders who are VERY high ranking (Z ranking, the highest) who just stomp us and don't even play respectful against noobs (body camp/key camp). Like bro, you will win without doing that against us.

The queue being so bad might be because I keep playing on off-peak hours (9 pm all the way to 6 am my time, my schedule is bad right now). I have played a few games on "semi peak hours" (3-5 pm) and the queue was fine. So maybe it's just my fault for having such an off schedule for where I am located.

Survivors can be EXTREMELY fun if people just go in at the same time, help each other, actually find the objective (keys). But a lot of the time, these people are noobs and just play for safe rank, and hide the whole game, trying to escape so they can rank up despite doing nothing. It's a pretty awful way to play the game and defeats the purpose of it being a game.

The 6 survivors games I enjoyed, people actually went in, tried, 2 closes matches, 1 in which it was a loss, but it felt good because we tried.

Overall, really fun game. Just don't play on degenerate hours like I have been and you should be fine to find a game.

I also highly recommend not to spend money on this game, as I plan on being "f2p". The rates to get SPECIFIC upgrades in this game is really bad, and no pity system for really important things you might want. You can get all these skills f2p, but you need to grind, and tbh the grind isn't that bad. You even get the main game currency in which you can buy the "pay only" raiders with.

So really, if you want the game to change for the better, don't buy the gacha, just enjoy the game, use your playstyles and use the plenty of good f2p skills you can get early on and if you get decent drops from the spirit summoner in the game (where you get abilities/upgrades).
