More Floors
Anyone excited to get more floors? Every time I play a game of Baldi Plus, it IS fun, but always wished it lasts a bit longer, considering it takes me about 10-15 minutes. When you play the game more, you start to notice patterns, so a bit of the randomness, I can predict on the go, not a lot of it, but a portion of it.

I'm also just really fond of the idea of more, bigger, fleshed out maps.

Also, does anyone like to do all of the current floors blind? I used to always fill out the map, but I once tried to see if I can do the last floor bind, noticed it was a lot more funner and more strategy-dependent, and has always just been doing that ever since. Anyone else does this?

Yeah, I am definitely excited for the more floors as it is one of the key things that would help the game feel more complete. When I first bought the game about a year ago, I played it like crazy, basically if I was on my PC and I wasn't programming or watching youtube, I was playing BB+. But now that I have played it so much, beat the game, learned a lot, and now know how to use my brain, the game is just so much more boring. I only really use it as a last resort if I'm bored and can't pick what to play or I'm waiting for something to download. Adding more floors would definitely add new layers of exploration, difficulty, and would keep me more interested in the game. I personally would think it would be cool if he did it like this: There are 4 difficulties - Easy (2 floors) Normal (5 floors), hard (10 floors), and infinite (∞ floors). Beating one difficulty unlocks the next, and a new save starts with only easy. They are paced differently, too. The earlier the difficulty, the more the difficulty increases per floor, due to there being less floors than a higher difficulty. However, the amount of floors in a difficulty can compensate for this (for instance, while floor 2 on easy mode may be harder than floor 2 on medium mode, floor 2 will be easier than floor 5 on medium mode, or vice versa floor 1 on easy mode might be slightly harder than floor 1 on medium mode). Then, of course, there's infinite mode. The pacing should be similar to the infinite floors mod, where you start out with only one notebook, and difficulty takes quite a while to ramp up. The infinite floors mode does also have the extra textures and upgrade system, which, personally, just feel to fan-y to me to be an official part of the game.

Bro SAME, last summer in 2021 I played BB+ NON-STOP, ALL summer. This was also the first time I watched Rapparep Lol, which got me into playing mods which carried that summer and definitely added to that summer. Ahh... I still look back at that summer fondly, even if it was just filled with randomly generated chaos, and broken mods.

After a while in mid-2022 is when I started to fall off of BB+ because back in 0.3.4 and up, it was so bare bones. The main reason there was so much re-play ability back then was simply because I was new. So after months of playing it I eventually started to see more and more how desperate this game was needed for some updates. This was perfectly timed with that whole year hiatus before 0.4, since I didn't even know he was posting status updates on a, while related, COMPLETELY different platform (what was mystman12 thinking...). So I kind of just played it every so often, maybe once or twice a few months.

BUT, after the 0.4 update, it was like a COMPLETE repeat of last time when I first started playing BB+. I was amazed at how each level really felt like it's own thing, as even before when I was new playing it, It was just satisfying flying through each level more than anything, rather than actually putting a considerable amount of thought in to my actions.

I was, and still am, absolutely fond of the idea of pre-made rooms and hallways. I LOVE the 4-Way Library. It's cool visually wise (I mean just look at it) but game play wise it can also be pretty handy when trying to flee, and just exploring the school in general. Trying to take a shortcut? Just go in and take a left or a right! Trying to get somewhere a bit isolated? Just cut right through the middle! It's so cool.

And yeah, that's a pretty interesting approach for the new floors. I've always just thought of it as, just make more floors, but having each set of a floors in it's own difficulty bracket is quite an interesting idea.

And btw, like I said, do you also like to do all of the floors blind?

If by "blind", you mean without the map, that's an interesting idea to ramp up the difficulty to such an easy game. I have never tried it before, I do have plenty of times I just don't buy the map, but it would be interesting to not look at it whatsoever.

_____I have a personal theory of when we’ll be getting new floors, (keep in mind that this is all just speculation.) So we know 0.7 is gonna feature the new field trips, but it’ll probably also feature something big in the Pit Stop. I think 0.7 might be a sorta Pit Stop 2.0 update, with around the same amount of extra content besides the field trips / Pit Stop as in 0.6. (There was that new structure Mystman wanted in this update but he couldn’t finish it, so that’s either coming in 0.7 or 0.6.1.)

_____After that we might be done with all the structural updates, (at least for a little bit.) So Mystman can fully focus on just pumping out new content for the game. We might be looking at a new item, new character, new event, new structure, and new big room per update. I feel like 0.9 will be much the same, although maybe with a new field trip instead of a new character / big room / event. (Not without all of those, just some of them, as those are some of the more time consuming things to add I’m sure.)

_____Then there’s 0.10, which I feel will be when we finally get new floors. Not only because it’s a milestone update so it’d make sense to save it for then, but because Mystman will have had at least 2 solid updates to add enough content to warrant extra floors. I feel like with this update we’ll also get some changes to how floors generate. (I feel like floors are a bit too big as of now with a lot of wasted space in the middle, you can reasonably shrink floors without changing anything about the actual layout.)

_____Of course, floors might also not increase in difficulty the same way throughout the entire game. When I first saw the new monitor in the elevator, I immediately thought of floor modifiers. With Baldi coming down to talk about what’s going on in the next floor between levels, perhaps you can even choose what you’ll get in the Pit Stop.

_____If that’s the case then it’ll either be a part of 0.7, (Which I doubt because field trips will probably take up too much time for another huge feature like that.) It’ll be saved for 0.8, which would mean only 1 update before 0.10 to add new content. That would probably still be fine depending on how much needs to be done (besides adding enough content) to implement new floors. Or it’ll be saved for 0.10 itself, which makes sense to me.

_____I could be wrong about the whole floor modifiers thing, in which case it’s even more likely we’ll get more floors in 0.10. But that‘s just my thoughts. Regardless, I feel like we’re nearing the end of big structural updates, as the only real unfinished feeling parts of the main game are the field trips and the Pit Stop. But even if 0.7 doesn’t fully implement everything intended for the Pit Stop, we probably won’t need another entire update dedicated for it, and can get by with smaller changes to it per update.

Oh no, I meant just not BUY the map for the 3rd floor (or any of the floors for that matter, if your used to buying the map 2nd as well).

Woah, that's one big paragraph(s)!

The idea of new floors coming in 0.10 sounds like a very likely thing. 0.10 is quite the milestone, so having another floor(s) along with that sounds pretty plausible, as I have never really KNEW when it would be appropriate for him to add more floors.

And also yeah, the VERY first seed there is on the seed forum (which I posted), had a BUNCH of looong hallways, and big empty boxes of air that formed because of it. I've always wanted more big, yet more compact floor 3's rather than it just having longer hallways (this isn't always the case, but you get the point).

Btw, what are floor modifiers? What exactly does that mean? Sorry I don't know if this is a popular thing or not, it sounds specific though.

I don't think we'll get another new character for a little while, a new item and a new event sounds highly likely, as we haven't gotten a new event for a LONG time, and the 'Nana Peel and Diet-BSODA was back to back. Another big room could also be likely, but I have a feeling that it'll come a bit later down development.

And yeah, I think we'll definitely be taking a little break from structural updates, while I do think we should have another big room (as we only have the Cafe, Library, and Playground), like I said, I have a feeling it'll come later.

Wow, lots of interesting opinions and ideas for not just 0.7, but future updates as well! I've always just been excited at what thing mystman12 will update/improve, and how he will do it. A major update every 2 months is a nice consistent stream of updates, major ones at least, so we'll just see where it'll take us for now.

Floor modifiers can really mean anything. Maybe the floor will have more yellow doors, maybe events will happen twice as fast, maybe everyone will move faster! It can be anything that will mix the gameplay up for one floor to add variety and challenge.

Ooh, now THAT'S, a cool concept. I never thought of anything like that! Reminds me of the Expel Hammer.

I have idea:
Easy: 3 floors
Medium: 5 floors
Hard: 10 floors
Extreme: 15 floors
Endless: endless floors

Hard mode: 3 floors, but with hard mode (similar to bbcr)

F1 - 4 notebooks, 1 exit - 3-4 characters
F2 - 7 notebooks, 2 exits - 4-5 characters
F3 - 9 notebooks, 4 exits 4-5 characters
F4 - 11 notebooks, 4 exits 5-6 character
F5 - 13 notebooks, 4 exts 5-6 characters
F6 - 14 notebooks, 5 exits 6-7 character
F7 - 15 notebooks, 5 exits 6-7 characters
F8 - 16 notebooks, 5 exits 7-8 characters
F9 - 17 notebooks, 6 exits 8-9 characters
F10 - 18 notebooks, 6 exits 8-9 characters
F11 - 19 notebooks, 6 exits 9-10 characters
F12 - 20 notebooks, 7 exits 9-10 characters
F13 - 21 notebooks, 8 exits 10-11 characters
F14 - 22 notebooks, 9 exits 12-13 characters
F15 - 23 notebooks, 10 exits, all characters

This would be hard to make, because of Mystman needs to propagade Baldi's full speed for all floors.

It's probably not coming in 0.6.1. Mystman has stated that he wants to keep all additions to the game for major updates, while bug fixes and tweaks are for the minor ones.
BladedPhantom Jul 23, 2024 @ 4:18pm
Maybe there'd be like a floor skip item in case you don't wanna play certain floors. I dunno, depends on what each floor would have in them.

If Mystman really does plan to add eight more non-Johnny characters (there's 12 in the game, not counting Baldi), then I wonder how that'll balance out the floors.

I want back of the generating system before V0.3
F1 can has 4 or 5 notebooks
F2 can has 6 or 7 notebooks
F3 can has 8 or 9 notebooks

I mean, that just makes the game much more RNG dependant. I like the fact that there's a set amount of notebooks because it means that every seed has vaguely the same sized floors.
