I do wonder, though, how you would share said levels if mystman decides to make it public... like does the generator spit out a seed after you make the level (I doubt this), does it make a custom level file (and where would it go?), or what? edit: I'm silly and literally forgot it was stated in the video that the level will be saved in a data file
` because like, it's gotta be transferrable I imagine. the game has multiple distributions as-is, between steam, itch.io, and gamejolt.. and eventually a physical disk release for the kickstarter backers whom pledged enough to get that. and that's just PC- would custom levels be able to be created/shared on console releases, or would it be like the Portal2 level editor where it was released sometime after the initial game's release and is only available on PC?
still gotta wonder how exactly uploading custom levels would work, and how console releases would be handled (if they even get the level editor at all). like I imagine it's more likely that there's a directory you'd have to plop the game files into to add custom levels (since I know some older games had that capability), but it might also be possible for the game to have a built-in file browser to directly upload the custom level. and then consoles, a lot of them have internet capabilities so it wouldn't be impossible to have some sort of system to share files over the internet and have the game automatically put them in the right place
.........Beyond that, I don't know how often I'd even use the level editor. Making challenge maps might be fun for a bit, but completing them would probably get boring since you'd end up experiencing the Baldi's Basics Classic problem. Where the short length means it's better to just find a strategy that will work and then bash your head against a wall over and over until it does. But since Baldi's Basics Plus is less random and more fair hopefully that won't happen. Regardless it will still be a fun feature.
like just completely disregard BB+ being a strategic stealth game and be like "ok so you need to figure out how to access this next area, and from there find this one item to get past this other obstacle..."
it'd probably take some time and practice to figure out how to make a good level while disregarding BB+'s intended playstyle, but it'd be interesting to play around with
besides, one of the points listed in the anniversary video was being able to share levels you created with data files. not everyone has a Switch, let alone GBG, and even if somehow both were true you couldn't guarantee the same level of quality of gameplay (not map design, purely things like AI and controls) that you could if each level was played in BB+
and yeah, I feel similarly about it being PC exclusive (especially since it may not be there come the game's initial completion)
_ it's a shame, though, because console players (particularly backers who chose a console-based platform) will have to of waited much longer for BB+ only to not get all the features if the PC port gets an exclusive level editor. though, I know some console games allowed you to share user-made content over the internet from in-game (e.g. Super Mario Maker), so perhaps they can eventually get a level editor as well if mystman decides to go for it!
Baldi's Basics+ is a simple enough game that I don't forsee too many limitations, except maybe the Kickstarter posters.... so while I don't disagree with you, I'm unsure what you're getting at?
mystman won't intentionally build the game with mod support in mind, though he's sure it should be possible (source) so I don't think the steam workshop is much of a concern in this scenario :p
2. I kind of forgot that it was a simple game and didn't think about it, but all I was trying to say was I think that usually the developer doesn't want to give the fans too much power in their level editors so there will still be some stuff you can only see in the main game. But I guess that applies more to games like Portal 2 and Super Mario Maker (another reason for missing features in the level editor could be too much to try and implement into it and the fans seem to never be satisfied).
3. Yeah, you are right this probably is not a concern and mods are actually probably quite simple to install for the game anyways.
