it may be easy to miss since that screen goes away as soon as you press any button, but the game did indeed try to warn you. the closest compromise I can see is if there's an option to disable/quiet loud noises (mentioned here, but you need to scroll down a little) but that wouldn't change Mrs. Pomp's behaviours, nor the visual effects of any existing jumpscares in general.
_ which, I'm personally fine with?- the game is intended to be a horror game after all, and hopefully this should help you as well if implemented since I find the main part of what makes the jumpscares so spoopy is just how loud they can be
the first game also warned you that there may be scares, stating exactly:
but that doesn't outright say jumpscares, so I can better understand why you might not expect them in that game (there's like, 2-3? very few.)
Anyways , I asked for a refund. Will buy it again if this option adds
however, I wouldn't say that the trailer doesn't at least try to imply a jumpscare, since it shows a modified version of Baldi's jumpscare when he finally reaches the "camera" after slapping down the one hallway (0:29-0:30). how effective that implication is is questionable, though...
_ it's not nearly as startling as the in-game jumpscare since the loud noise was removed, but that is essentially how Baldi's jumpscare appears visually (though without a bg and with an added fake error message) and even the circumstances of when it happens (when Baldi reaches the player). on the other hand: even though this section is in the trailer, that doesn't outright describe what all jumpscares would be like in-game, let alone the one shown, so I can see how your expectations could be mislead
a side note, one interaction that might be seen as a jumpscare is included in the trailer with the associated sound (albeit cut off so you don't get the full effect), being opening a door to an angry, screaming Mrs. Pomp (0:24). again, though, since you don't get the full effect I can see how it doesn't warn you for what the in-game experience would be like
hopefully mystman follows through with adding an option to disable/quiet loud sounds and that said option helps with the jumpscares. unfortunately however, I don't forsee an option to straight-up disable them, sorry.... (also I hope I didn't come off as dismissive in any way, if I did I apologise)
