yeah. There's no way it would be so positively reviewed or even let on Steam if it was actually a virus. I did get a little worried just before the final boss, because she said she wanted to hack my computer, but I just went along with it, and the entire thing took place in the game world, not in the actual OS.

that's how i looked at it as well - if the game actually was harmful in anyway it would have been pulled long ago

literally cant find a way to report the game and scanned as soon as i got it and had a virus. so i mean its very possible and unless you did the same thing not sure you could speak.

If the 4th wall breaking game makes you think about it, that's a good game:lunar2020confidentrooster:

I'm a developer and I've seen many softs, packages, apps or whatever approved and used by a whole community, and then after some years people discover it was actually a malware. So the fact that it is still on Steam is definitely not a proof of safety.

Hey. Any chance the anti virus you used is avast/avg? I've had false positive cases with those two in the past.

Any time I release a new update I have to fill out a false positive form so they'd stop marking the game as a virus. The process takes several days until it's approved, and I've been releasing new versions with bug fixes every single day since release...

I can promise you with 100% certainty, Outcore is not a real virus, it does not cause harm to your computer and does not steal your files or info.

As Destal said. Being on Steam is in no way proof of safety. We've had cryptominers and rootkits on here before, it happens. Hell we've had games that legit doesn't work, as the dev forgot to include the actual executable (Steam rarely, if ever, quality check or ensure something works, "not their job")...

Most gamers\users also don't know how to set up custom rules in whatever firewall they use, let alone asses how safe software is, and blindly trust their AV to make the correct judgements, so reviews are also not the most legit, or sound sources for safety advice.

Also agree with the dev. If you use Avast\avg (any FREE antivirus really, you get what you pay for), they tend to go with the philosophy of: "Everything is bad, unless we have deemed it isn't". Hell, standard C bytecode (at least used to) get flagged all the time. Absolute ♥♥♥♥-tier AV.

To be fair, games not working on release seems to be the norm nowadays.

Agreed on AVG - used to use it back in the day but in my experience it did a poor job detecting actual malware and had way too many false positives.

Antiviruses are so annoying when you do any coding, they constantly try to tell you that it's a virus, even i you just wrote a "hello world"
