is it windowed? or wrong resolution? I had an issue with no being able to set to my native 1920x1080 res?

I think the game support only 720p but should let me play it in full screen, and just an ugly window with black frames surrounding it, mine also is 1080p

It does support 1080p and higher res, I had to do a fix/workaround to get my full resolution,

1) Look for your hardware_settings_restrictions.xml file in your 'system' folder (default for steam version: C:\Steam\steamapps\common\grid\system\), and make a backup.

2) Open the file with Notepad. Scroll down to the bottom, delete the following entry and save the file:

data
res mem="270" maxWidth="1280"
/data

The restriction is now gone and you can play the game at your native resolution.

Follow these instuctions to the tee after you back up this game. You will be able to acheve native resolution. 1920x1080 in most cases.

Got this off the forums from where I had to fix mine, I didnt have this issue prior to installing my new gpus, give it a go, you wont be disappointed.

Lemme know how it goes ;), cant wait for release of Grid 2 tonight ;D
whatever 💀🎺 May 28, 2013 @ 12:53pm
Huh, weird. I just installed and played Grid (for the first time ever) and it knew how to pick the best settings out of the box (fullscreen, 120fps, 1080p on GTX 670). Not many games bother to do that.

You got lucky then lol, yeah I didnt have the problem either when it was installed prior. I had uninstalled it awhile back, an then when I reinstalled it did it to me as well. The option for 1080 wasnt in the list of res when you got in game, jus 1280x720 was highest option mine would go to, till I used this fix.

just pull your config files out of the my documents section not the saves if you even have any and relaunch the game. Once you restart it will reconfigure.
