GRID

GRID

720p no matter what...
As the title says, I can only run this game at 720p, as soon I change anything on the resolution in the ini, the game stops working and closes on itself.

I tried every single resolution fix from steam community and none of them worked.
Running that kind of PC:

Zotac GTX 1080 Ti Mini
ASUS ROG Strix Z390-H Gaming
32 GB DDR4-2666 MHz RAM 13-15-15-35-T1
1 TB SSD ADATA GAMMIX Pro S11
2 TB Seagate ST2000DM08-2FR102
Intel i5-9600K @ 4.8 GHz, 1.4 V

I'm far beyond the mimimum requirements but this piece of crap simply just accepts 720p.
Even really old games like Deus Ex are fine with 4k...

Try deleting the "hardware_settings_restrictions.xml" file located in steamapps\common\Grid\system.
Then my game stays black and closes itself immediatly.
That's what bothers me, can do whatever I want.
Seems to not work with windows 10 64 bit probably.
They cut of support for 32 bit processes, may it got something to do with that.

Get a similiar problem in Metro 2033/Redux and Metro Last Light/Redux, where I can only use 1080p.

I'm on Win10 64bit too. The only other thing I did aside from deleting the file was going to NVIDIA Control Panel and changing the "OpenGL rendering GPU" option to my graphics card. Maybe that will help.
Did so, because I already thought it should work better that way.
Strangely it's the only Grid or Dirt game that has this issue.

Only thing left to do so far is, to unplug my second monitor and vr from the gpu, may that will help, else I'm pretty much clueless...

It's often sad, how many people have such problems and the developer don't care. :|

I have followed those instructions and am still getting the immediate crash.

This thread and instructions are for resolution problems, not crashes.

It keeps reverting to 720p no matter what I do in these instructions.
I got the same problem.

1. It closes instantly on it's own.
2. It loads up and nothing changed.

Only thing that is left to try, to unplug all the other monitors and vr headsets I have and take a look if the problem persists.

Somehow Metro Series doesn't like multi monitor either.
And only activates higher resolutions, if only one plug is plugged into my gpu.

Multiple monitors are not a problem with grid.

Dude, read the articles. You just need to tell the game you have larger amount of VRAM and it will open larger Resolutions for you.
Worked in ever system i've ever run.
Right now it's doing 300fps (pointless i know but there is no taring) @ 1080p on an Intel i5 8600, 16Gb, R9 380, Win10.

Agreed
I run x2 42" 1080p and can say Multi Monitors are not an issues
Jesus, I did so and the game closes instant on itself.
Happens with everything I change in the .ini file.

What did you change to get things running? Did you only change that line in the restrictions file?
I did, I tried every single thread that said do this or that, nothing worked.

1. option was, nothing changed and 4k was still locked.
2. option game starts and immediatly closes.

Happens every single time.
Sometimes it's really hard to believe, how less the developer care if a game runs correctly or not.

The original cd-version of Neverwinter Nights runs without any trouble at 4k resolution and there was for sure nothing like that at these days.
The letters are small, but with some new mods, it can be fixed.
For the updated steam version, can't say, because don't own it.
