Real-Time 24 Hours of Le Mans
Hey guys! I used to play this on 360 back in the day, got it on a Humble Bundle a while back, with your help got it working on my system and really enjoying it.

Next month I'll be streaming to raise money for St. Jude Children's Hospital with their PLAYLIVE event, and I realized that it's just the time to do something a friend and I were always talking about - doing the 24 Hours of Le Mans in real time. Start one day, end the next, swap drivers as needed. Should be fun!

I have a few questions before I just jump into it, from anyone that might have done this (or 12 hour or whatever actual endurance race in this game) before. Are there any mechanics that differ from otherwise - fuel, any way to pit and repair damage, anything like that? Forza is my other main racing game, which does have those things, but I love the feel of GRID's Circuit de la Sarthe, so I'll be going with that; just wondering what's out there.

Or, if it comes to it, we just drive really conservatively, and when it comes time to swap in a relief driver we pause at the beginning of the main stretch and swap places then :P

Thanks for the help getting this running, and looking forward to any feedback you have!

I think the last idea here is about all you can do toward a real time LeMans race in GRID. Tried it myself some time ago and a scenario like you describe was all I could find.

pCARS and pCARS2 include the real deal. Real pit stops, with an animated pit crew, etc., etc. I have only read about it and can't tell you much, but I recommend the pCARS games for the no holds barred video game sim racing you're talking about.

For anyone wondering, I'm going ahead with doing this in GRID. It's gonna be this weekend, starting at 12 noon Eastern time, at twitch.tv/BoterBug, and again to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Feel free to drop by :)

Sounds cool.

Is it noon Saturday to noon Sunday? I've never used Twitch, but would like to see how this goes.

So what actually are you going to do? In game the 24 hours goes by in 30 minutes. How are you going to extend it to real time?

You can enter the other-than-24 minute single player games in Race Day instead of playing the career game, from the main menu. There are several different time scales, from 12 minute games to 24 hour games if you set it up for Le Mans. Double check the OP for more.

Dang, I have over 250 hours in this game and I never knew you could change the time scale in race day.. But then again, I never messed with race day too much, I had even forgotten it existed since I haven't played in 6+ months. :rfacepalm: I stuck with career 99% of the time. Me and Gianni Fazio, what a teammate. :steamhappy: :flag:

Update: my teammate crashed 2 hours in, forced into the rail by the AI, we're doing a second race at 12 hours. Got some damage but the rubber and AI is strong. Currently 14 in-game hours left and I'm about to hop back in the hot seat! twitch.tv/BoterBug

This was fun, 12 hours was a good time period. Might try 24 again next year.
