Just lost all of my saves.

So that's nice. About 8 hours of progress went nowhere. Is there any way to recover it or am I screwd and should just bite the bullet and restart?

How did you lost them so that we avoid making the same mistake ? I also lost all my saves but in my case it was because of windows reinstal with completely formating the disk

Well. I did literally nothing. Just restarted the game and ended up in the same place that I was but with base weapon and empty inventory. Restarted the game aaaaand saves gone, all 3 slots are empty

If you visit steam's cloud page in a browser and sign in, you might be able to download a previous save that might be stored there.

Just happened to me as well, and it seems to have erased it from the cloud. I've been playing on desktop and laptop with cloud files, but now they are nowhere to be found.

This literally just happened to me. I also had cloud saves on but when checking in properties>general it says o bytes stored. Wtf I was enjoying this game too.

So honestly i starged saving it from the cloud each time i quit. Just in case. Hope this will be fixed in upcoming patch.

I just loaded it up and all my saves are gone as well. This is infuriating.

Trying to replicate this bug, I found that leaving an area while the game is saving tends to get to get the save icon stuck on screen. Quitting during such a time seems to be a sure-fire way to delete my saves.

If you instead find a save point, or another game event that saves the game, that can finish the saving process. I believe that the saving process is being interrupted by another load event, and the files are being held open.

This is only triggered by a limited number of save-causing events that can trigger during normal gameplay, such as progressing NPC quests.

I do not know if this is the only cause, nor if it causes it all the time. Hopefully the devs track down (all) causes of this glitch and eliminate it soon -_-

I checked my steam cloud & the most recent cloud save was 3 days ago, around the time I purchased the game. I believe my game overwrote the local saves with the cloud save & from here on out will have cloud saves disabled and make a manual backup save file after every session.
