OP is wrong however: Salt & Sanctuary is the best 2D souls ever made, hands down.
I just think Blasphemous had a stronger marketing campaign than this game. I just think not enough people know about this game yet.
I also recommend the adventure game series by Blasphemous devs. Also dark, disturbing and extremely atmospheric.
Do any of you realize just how difficult it is for an indie developer to release a game without a lot of bugs and issues when they don't have a budget that's anywhere near that of a AAA game developer?! Making a video game, especially as an indie developer is extremely difficult!
I honestly like this equally to Blasphemous 1 and 2 and Death's Gambit, but they're all obviously different games doing the metroidvania subgenre differently. Hell, Dead Cells is also a great choice! You know, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is still THE king to me! I also realize that I'm showing my age with that one, lol.
All-in-all, this game is great! I just killed Laddak and I'm going around to finish up anything I can before ending the game officially.
Thank you for saving me some time ;)
Cheers!
And yeah, saying that this game is "better" is a big stretch. Better in quantity maybe, but quality? I doubt that.
