I also can't get thyme anymore because of the beetles.
I try to set fences arount the elm trees but they spawn inside.
This gamte is so great but I don't want run after beetles all the time :-(
I have never seen any beetle eat thyme in my game; they were interested in my crops exclusively. Did that change with some recent update and i haven't notice?
I had a problem with disappearing thyme a couple updates ago but it was squirrels that were eating it not beetles.
And btw, the solution to your situation is black and has four legs. After reaching 150 Green Factor and some waiting (it was more than a week in game time in my case) a cat appears near the fence in front of your house. Feed it rats and it will start following you, killing every pest it sees.
Build the cat basket and place it near your thyme spawns. When the cat sits in its basket it automaticaly guards surrounding area. Your thyme will be safe that way.
Me and wife have the same problem, too many beetles and if we lower the elm tree the thym does not appear and doesn't multplicate.
This game is great so we want to play but our caracters die from poison
Regard
Yes, update 1.3.0 created this problem and the 1.3.0-hot fix did not solve it.
Izzie is great!
But not the solution in this case. If you start a new game it is damn hard to reach 150 green cause you have to watch over your elm trees all time instead of doing useful things.
I guess we have to wait until friday. Hopefully the developer will fix this beetle apocalypse.
In my game the squirels are allways near by the oak trees and the beetles
are allways near by elm trees and yes I saw them eating everything around the elms
no green gras rather thym and at the other trees they eat just the poison mushrooms I need for the potion not the other mushrooms
Heya :) Thank you for your reply.
Yeah, I've seen it happen for sure. They are pests.
Unfortunately I won't make it that far into the game, there isn't enough thyme to keep me alive.
Thanks for the replies all. Glad to see it's not me and something I have done. I wonder if the hotfix will fix it. Too bad, cos I'll be dead, and this leads into my next gripe:
What I wouldn't give for separate save slots... That seems like a function we could expect in any game in 2020.
If I start again I have to start from scratch, again. And it's just so slow going.
Also I think there is a bug, when you cut down a tree and start to pick things up (the branches and the log) every bush and grass in the vicinity gets automatically harvested.. yikes, I'm not even holding a scythe. I lost a bush that way by cutting down a tree in the vicinity. Anyone else experience that?

No, it is not. In fact it is very usefull if you cut a cypress tree and his 100 mushrooms plop up too.
Thank you :-)
