Requesting Tips for The Grind and End Game Goals
Newbie here, I suppose you could say. I just recalled that this game released for Steam, and am now here - a most excellent advancement, as I have been theorizing up until this point, awaiting a social platform where I may ask questions and formally interact with others via text. So, as the title suggests, I am looking for tips on "the grind" to higher levels (I am in desperate need of the later skill points). So, I have entered into the crab lord rank, and am realizing that without leveling up crabs, the grind is going to be very real. Is there any tips in accelerating this pace? Furthermore, what hat is ideal for gaining score in game? I previously came to a conclusion in an account that I had many months back, in that the crab alien hat alongside weapon master seemed to be excellent. I purposefully used weapons beforehand on one-shot baby crabs/turtles, thus increasing their multipliers, whilst retaining an excellent durability as the multipliers are high. This seems to be even more plausible, now that a formal repairing mechanism has been released...I must also thank the devs for the introduction of "weapon locking," which absolutely foiled me in my previous save. This stratagem seems to work a fair portion of the time, although not always. Something that leaves me absolutely astounded when I spectate others after I decide to end my game, is when I see alien crabs running at such an intense speed - something that I could not match even with my own maxed out alien crab in my first save, with seemingly unending stamina. What is the source of this speed? Is it a maxed out shark hat? I recall seeing a comment in another thread about the shark hat's importance, of which I neglected the prospect of. At the same time, those alien crabs/legendary crabs I see who run so incredibly fast do also gain a score, oftentimes tenfold my own pace. Is it perhaps wise to shift my priority into attaining movement speed? I shall also mention that I main the blue and mud crabs, as they seem to be rather busted when it comes to their abilities. Is there a different crab that I should be prioritizing? I recall that the alien crab's babs would also kill many things surrounding you, which meant less score gain for you. While I recall the ability being very powerful in PvP combat as well as against bosses, this seems to hinder you when attempting to attain score growth. Perhaps with a maxed out shark hat, it would be possible to outrun the babs, thus giving you the chance to kill other crabs and actually gain the score from it? I just wish to know how these players are constantly two-shotting regular, and rather large, AI crabs without weapons, moving at such great speeds, and never entering into the awkward phase of looking for AI to kill due to said unmatched speed.

A few questions regarding special skills: does deadly boost buff plain attack damage? I question this, as I must conserve weapon durability as greatly as I may. This means killing enemies, and quickly...I have come to find the slap hand to be utter garbage, due to its knockback. This often results in the enemy crab landing in healing baby crabs among other things, which screws me over durability wise. Furthermore, is the king size ability something to strive for? I question its usefulness, as if you're king, then you're probably powerful enough as it is, especially when there's a greater population. On the other hand, I suppose the greater speed, power, and (I think) health is always welcomed...I just wonder as to whether or not I should prioritize my points into a different, more essential skill, such as enrage, which seems to directly assist me in a situation that I find myself in a lot, whereby I and my enemy find ourselves in combat while at very low health. I imagine that this edge will allow me to defeat a far greater percentage of my enemies, as upon looking at icon colors, I found a trend in lower-level ranks (silver, etc). Obviously, this means that they certainly will not have this same edge, due to the rank restriction of special skills. In regards to my speed concern in the first paragraph, is the stamina skill worth investing in (treating it with a greater priority)? Let me recount the alien crabs that I rarely observe, who seemingly have boundless stamina, and very, very great speed. I wish to replicate this. No combination of hats, crabs, and skill combos are seemingly able to topple these speed demons alongside their extraordinary strength as a legendary crab.

Finally, I must request, but is there perhaps another strategy that I fail to acknowledge? I wish to remain open-minded, as well as to experiment with this game. Having new goals rejuvenates my interest in the game, and I wish to serve as an active player. Just remember, my primary goal at the moment is attaining a greater score as quickly as possible...I find that this process levels me up the fastest, as well as giving me coins for crab grabs. Likewise, it seems to allow me to complete objectives without even realizing it. A side objective that I am also concerned with is attaining a strategy for PvP, and to dominate others in combat. I am not so concerned with this at the moment, however, being such a low level and having no mega rare or legendary crabs at the minute (doing the coin/pearl/ability advert grind on mobile as much as I may!). Thanks for the assistance!

One final, very irrelevant question...how is it that I may change my in-game name color? I've seen it a few times, and saw in another thread that anyone may do it, apparently. I merely question how; a third party source, perhaps?

Hey thanks man, I really appreciate it! As for your first comment, if you're referring to the wall of text, yeah I have a bit of a bad tendency to go on long rants as I did. Apologies!

My best advise is to copy what each leader is using at first and go from there. Then when you enter a game determine what your goal is short run long run? Evade and sneak or all in at the king?

Who the King is also depends if you can murder him. I recently had a game where I was playing my fav crab The Mantis Shrimp and the King was an Alien crab. I was playing better than him, but everytime I went in for the kill having thought I killed his minions he always had like 2 or 3 hidden and they did me in everytime and at 100% growth with purple chest weapons.

I then got pissed and changed to Demon Crab. goes against him with an axe at 80% growth and kills him easy.

Did it have the loot magnet? It's rather busted, and uh, well...can make you just a little more than too powerful, I find. Also, I thought they nerfed the minions after some complaints? Do they still eviscerate bosses as they did prior? It's a little perplexing that you lost as a mantis shrimp (assumed max upgrade points), for while it does have pretty low attack, it as you said: you had max growth, and a purple crate weapon. The demon crab (assumed to be maxed in upgrade points) has the highest attack in the game, but you were only at 80% growth, and only had an axe...quite strange indeed. I found myself in some similar situations: as a mud crab, I nearly kill demon crabs quite a ways bigger than myself, of which have more health than aliens. Contrarily, I dealt absolutely minimal damage with a weapon against some albino alien crab with a premium christmas hat. There are some strange and seemingly unexplainable match ups in this game.
