Cant use asphalt paver

I filled it with asphalt and extended the paving screed but whenever I choose „asphalting on/off“ in the radial menu the tooltip just says asphalting disabled. It never turns on and driving over the part that needs asphalting doesn’t do anything. Is this buggy?

I'll get the obvious questions out of the way first.
Have you selected "extend paving screed" first?
Does the machine have any asphalt in it?
Is the output of the machine over road that needs paving?

If the output of the machine is a single pixel out of the work area, even if the rest of the machine is within, then it will give that error.
Press V (if on PC using keyboard) to see both the output of the machine (at the back) and the work area, represented by red dots.

The problem is your not positioned correctly, if you look at the side angle the drop down part must be over the area to be done. Just drive forward a bit until your in the correct position.
