What are the differences between this and the other version of OG Corpse Party on Steam?
And is there any reason at all to get the other version in addition to this one?

- Stereoscopic (3D) Audio
- Professional Voice Acting
- Professionally drawn CGs.
- Remastered music.
- Animated Scenes
- Professionally Drawn Character art.
- Updated 16 bit spritework.
- More added content.

This is the remake of the other version that was originally made for the PSP, later ported to the PS4, iOS and 3DS.

This version is also coming to the Switch, IIRC.

Okay, I suppose I'll give my take on the comparison between versions.

The old Steam version is from the original Corpse Party devs, an indie studio called GrisGris.
It has:
-Indie art by GrisGris, the original devs.
-Indie voice acting by different voice actors than later games/releases. Voice acting is a little spotty in early chapters
-No CG artwork for Wrong Ends and many other scenes, descriptive text instead
-4 Extra Chapters, including "Tooth" presented in RPG style instead of Book of Shadows style
-A couple of different/extra endings in Chapter 5, if I remember right
-A couple of GREAT vocal songs that are completely missing from later versions.
-Steam version is available for Windows and Linux.

The 2021 version is from mainstream developer MAGES.
It has:
-Art by MAGES. which matches Book of Shadows, Blood Drive, etc.
-More-or-less full voice acting by the same actors as Book of Shadows, Blood Drive, etc.
-Much more of the voice acting is binaural.
-Redone area and sprite graphics at 1.5x the resolution
-CG artwork for many scenes and pretty much all Wrong Ends
-16 Extra Chapters (Tooth is not one of them, but the other 3 from the old version are there)
-An Omake "Chapter" where you can view many of the CGs
-An extra Wrong End in Chapter 1
-An opening video
-Different (not remastered) music for a few scenes or locations
-A couple of its own unique (and very good) vocal songs
-Steam version is available for Windows, Linux, and also Mac.

There is a 25% discount on the new version for owners of the previous version.

Thank you so much for the detailed response! It sounds like there's reasons to play both as they're kinda different experiences in some ways. Curious that not *all* of the content from the original game is in this; guess I gotta play the OG one first.

Yeah, since the two versions are from different companies there's just some stuff that will always differ I guess. I definitely think they're both somewhat different experiences.

Seemingly now if you buy both pc versions, you'll get everything.

That's correct, between both PC versions, all content is present.

Hey Sara, great to see you still with us!

Could you maybe confirm the price for this one yet, beyond the discount (which is much appreciated, especially for us old guard from back on the PSP), or a preorder start?

It'd help me sort aside funds for launch ahead of time.

The price has been confirmed as $19.99 USD with a 10% launch discount and a 25% discount for owners of the previous PC version. (I don't know if these discounts stack... No idea.)

I don't think we've announced other region pricing unfortunately so I can't really say in that regard.

So is the difference between this and the 3DS version (which was the most complete before) the two characters and the new sub scenarios?

Also voice acting in all of the Extra Chapters, much higher resolution, higher audio quality (music and voices alike)... well, honestly even the sprite graphics are higher quality as they're palette-crunched on 3DS which results in some color oddities here and there. You can also apply some visual effects to the screen in this version like "flashlight", "candle", or "moonlight" though I think that's a very minor bonus really.

Hi, will the old version stay up for sale, or will it get delisted? Thanks

this extra content is from the Switch/PS4 port released in Japan a few months ago(plus they added voices for the 3DS content). This will be the first time we get this new content in English.
gotta love how PC has become the place to play the entire franchise in a single system

I don't think there are any plans to delist the old version, it has its own unique things and is from a different company after all.
