How to get Patronage of the Powerful?

Trying to defend the commonors by law instead of a rebellion this time but to give the right of defense it seems i need the Patronage of the Powerful and i dont have it so i am wondering how to get it and how far back i have to restart just to get it.

So far I found 3 ways of getting a patron:

Octavia: either gave her handkerchief during adolescence and follow that or have her with 2 relationship, then when she calls you to the castle she can become your patron.

Magistrate: You need 5 career and not to have made a deal with Egmont, this however makes you "betray" Augustin if made the promise.

Felipe: this one comes way late and have high cons.

Thus for me I don't like either, though Octavia is the easiest with most rewards.
