Firstly, guard don't care if you sprint in public and private areas. Yes if you sprint in private areas they detect you quicker, but you can just kill or let them escort you out.
Secondly, I sprint in secure areas all the time. Gaurds take a long time to realize, wait and then finally approach the suspicious area (idk why they just stand there, and say what's that) by the time they start approaching I'm already gone, and guards don't care what you do, they only care about bags, tied civilians and bodies so I tend to not sprint there.
I'm not saying this is not a bug, it is, why is it making you uncrouch without pressing shift, they should fix this? but can it break stealth? not really...
The specific situation I had found myself in was during Gold and Sharke. In the secure vault area, you can crouch walk behind the camera pillar, but in front of the guard overlooking the balcony (Even when he's looking right in your direction.) He'll see you for a brief moment, but you get behind the pillar and you can even keep crouch walking into the vault with him still looking at you. He just sees you for another brief moment.
While walking the 13 bags out of the vault and going back in, for more, I had bumped into that purple sign I had mentioned previously, causing me to sprint for a moment while that balcony guard was overlooking the area that I was attempting to crouch walk right in front of him. His detection bar filled up extremely quickly with me sprinting in a secure area within his cone of vision. I had no time to react and he ran at me with cuffs. I hacked his radio as he ran up, but now I had to deal with searching. Soft ruined for me at that moment, but hard ruined for someone without the perks and experience needed to navigate that surprise situation.
Obviously, in a lot of situations it would just end up in a "What was that" situation, but again, I'm trying to supply a use case for why it should be worked on.
