PAYDAY 3

If you use a controller...it ain't Call of Duty...nor even Battlefield
I work in finance as a humble servant to our banking cartel overlords...so forgive me for my lack of knowledge when it comes to programming and game development.

Even though I am not a programmer...I do play A LOT of video games. I know when FPS controls feel tight on a controller and I know when something is just off. I can only describe this feeling as if you were driving a Lamborghini with tight handling....and then switched over to driving your grandfather's Buick from the 1980's. It's hard to explain to someone not using the steering wheel what the difference feels like....but something just feels off.

The primary thing I wanted in Payday 3 was tighter controls than Payday 1 & 2 offered. I wanted gun-play and movement to feel more fluid and less clunky.

For instance in Call of Duty and Battlefield I have no problem aiming down sights for head shots with a controller. However, in Payday 1, 2, and 3....you'd be better off firing from the hip with a controller. Not just aiming down sights...but the movement, melee, running...everything just feels clunky as hell.

People can hate on Call of Duty and Battlefield, but those games have what I describe as "tight" controls on a controller. A controller will never be as good as a keyboard....but you at least "feel" like you are on par with other players when using a controller in those games. By on par I mean you can have an enjoyable experience and not feel like you were robbed of having fun because you used a controller. In Payday 1, 2, and now 3....a controller feels like a 1980's Buick.

IDK, it feels alright to me, but I will admit it has to be off a little somehow for me to always underestimate the stick swing I need to pick up a bag

Payday 2 handled WAY WAY better on controller than 3 does.
Sure you had to max sensitivity and turn off aim assist, but at least you could.

Please allow us to turn off aim assist. The lock onto body is far too strong

Do yourself a favor and find a steam controller (all the ones I found used were new, people don't use them, you can see it because the trackpad isn't polished by the thumb).
It is so much better than a stick controller. But you have to tweak the profile to make it good, that's what people didn't get when it was released. Once you have your own profile it's 200% better than any other controller. Almost as accurate as K/M but with the controller cosiness.

You know you can make profiles for any controller on Steam right?
Touchpads don't have the same tactile feedback as a stick.
And the Dualsense has both those touchpads and more buttons overall since you can map the mic mute button.
I made a profile for VTMB for Playstation controllers that I could never replicate on any non-Playstation 4+ controller because it uses both sticks and touchpad.
The only advantage Steam controller has over Dualsense is no stick drift; which you can buy a Dualsense Edge for.
Like, it's cool that you like the Steam controller, but it's not as special as you might think.
