PAYDAY 3

New Skill System is Pretty Bad
So far I'm pretty conflicted about Payday 3, aside from just bugs and performance and stuff that they can flatten out eventually, lots of seemingly intentional gameplay changes off puts me. The skill system is the biggest one.

It's so. Incredibly. Boring.

They all revolve 10 percent movement speed, damage debuffs, and damage buffs, or otherwise very mild gameplay changes. Builds were a massive part of why I, and I know many others, enjoyed Payday 2, but they ruined everything that made it interesting! Where's ammo refunding headshots? Where's running with your weapon? Where's unlimited ammo usage after using an ammo bag? Crits? Not even worth mentioning melee because that whole playstyle seems ruined, considering there's only type of melee "weapon" and it's horrid.

That compounded with other downgrades (the music, the mildly worse gunplay, the lack of weapons, no single player ect.) from the second game make me lack optimism for the future of the game. I really really want to like this game, but I'm pretty on the fence about whether or not I'm going to refund it. Hopefully some time in the oven will help it, but I can't help but doubt it'll get what it needs.

Also readd Jacket pls

Payday 2 was plenty challenging if you wanted it to be, and yet still had fun and unique builds.

I really liked the old skill tree system, was disappointed during beta about that but taught they would make it better for the release

PD3 has a really fun and engaging skillset where you actually engage with the perks. PD2 has a garbage skillset where all the perks are like "Passive: Deal 8,000% more damage!".

Looks like they wnated to be closer to payday 1 but it's kinda mid. It will take a long ass time for them to make the game good.

I so agree with this. people say that payday had some pretty insane skills, but that was kinda the point of it! These skills were especially needed for the longer missions where ammo, health, and cover was really limited in scope.

Good riddance, all of them were arcady nonsense that made the game play like a cop shooting simulator rather than a heist game.

When i saw the Decks being gone and we got this lackluster skill tree, i was so disappointed.
The insane sh*t you could make and such is what made PD2 so damn enjoyable, where each point spent would make or break your build, or others where they would instead enhance the hell out of it.
Like Stoic, if you combined that with the hostage and cop conversion you would become damn near unkillable, and it was fun as hell! Sacrifice all of your armor for more health.
It was silly, it was dumb, and they knew damn well that it was, otherwise they wouldn't have added so many silly things that people absolutely loved, like the Comically Large Spoon, and the Golden Comically Large Spoon that had a Fire effect, just silly, goofy, fun sh*t, it was great!

In PD3 however...it's like early Darktide, it didn't matter for sh*t and was a take it or leave it kinda deal and the weapons are more what you'd find in Counter Strike...Early Counter Strike.

I just pray that they get their sh*t together and don't do what Robot Entertainment did with Orcs Must Die 3, by ignoring what OMD: Unchained offered and instead of copy pasting the best ideas over, they leave it to rot.

bro this heist game is one of the highest accolade hoard shooters ever to be released, no ♥♥♥♥ it's gonna be an arcady game bruh you new here?

OP is right, the people defending the new system as "less arcade-y" are coping so hard, the thing about payday 2 is you didn't have to run rpgs and crazy skills if you didnt want too, you had the choice. In PD3 there is no choice, its simply worse for some of the player base. People be defending PD3 so hard but in reality they are just defending limited play styles.

That's the thing about it, your argument is flat because YOU don't enjoy the arcade vibe so therefore it doesn't belong? i bet you still played payday 2 and just didn't run the things you considered "Arcade-y". Why is it so much to except that PD3 offer some options for players that liked that style?

You have the choice of playing Payday 2 or Roblox or whatever. You aren't forced to play PD3.

It's gone, if you don't like it you can always return to PD2.
