It's an easy-to-do task that triggers dopamine in your brain.
Imagine if after every 100 shots you had to click the P button so your gun works again.
And when you press that P button... oh boy it plays a very satisfying woosh noise and gives you a very big damage boost for the first shot after pressing that P button!!!!! Wow! So satisfying!!!!
That's literally the exact same.
It adds NOTHING to the actual gameplay experience.
