Starbreeze might not be in a good spot financially. So I wonder if they switched their staff to part time, hourly pay in an attempt to reduce expenses. That combined with them outsourcing so much has made it seem like they abandoned their game.
This should be a lesson to other companies to never outsource.
Epic is pretty much done doing exclusivity deals like they used to as several developers and studios discusswed during GDC.
And with desperate need for money going exclusive on the Epic Store, also nknown as "the marketing black hole" would be utterly stupid. Even more so without any form of financial deal.
But all of this only gets relevant if the game ever gets released.
Remember the last time thjey had the opportunity to wotk on a big license? The ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up so bad that the game got delayed for several years, was complete trash and on release and sent the company into bancruptcy.
Why would anyone thing it will be different this time? And more importantly why would anyone grant them the rights to their franchise given their past "success".
I wonder if they'll close up shop before or after they can deliver all the DLCs included in the season pass.
they knew exactly what they were doing and they didn't a single ♥♥♥♥ about making an actual Payday game. they outsourced as much as they could, borrowed code from pd2, and threw together a game that is Payday in name only with new additions being lifted from other popular FPS games. we knew it was going to be ♥♥♥♥, they knew it was be ♥♥♥♥, the only people who thought it was going to be good were the shills and redditoids / normies.
this game will not be good as no care went into it. gaming as a medium for the most part is fundamentally dead. most games today are made with money first, appeasing investors second, and making a quality product third.
as many others have said on here they will likely abandon it after they release the three DLCs they are contractually obligated to release. these "updates" that aren't worse coming back to try out are just fluff to make people think this game has a future at all.
