PAYDAY 3

PAYDAY 3

Starbreeze's plans going forward? Are they serious? What a joke.
I know its been a couple of days but I just saw the announcement. Let me say this.

Your plans never lined up with payday players. They just looking to milk the players and make cash grab games. Well, thats what you released and thats what the players dont want.

Your plans arent going to line up ever. You made a shell of a former game because you have already proven you dont listen to fans and you dont read into actual player feedback.

You know you F'd up and now are asking the community what you did wrong? Now you want help? After all the feedback that was already given years and years during PD2 and all the years before PD3. Just wow. :steamfacepalm:

OMG. Such an Epic fail on so many levels. This wont help save you. You are done. Stick a fork in it.

Just sell the IP to a more competent studio. This is beyond sad and shows SB is done. Beyond saving your **** show.

All of the talent has left the studio long ago that was the true OVK team and they are now making Den of Wolves. They will show you how a true heist is supposed to be made. Maybe take some notes? Im sure itll be too late though. The company will already be under by than. Good riddance.

This.

This game will negatively affect $tarbreeze’s reputation. Short term, they benefitted from putting in the minimum effort. Long term, this will hurt them.
What makes it all even more interesting is we're in an age where we've seen MEGA hits from unknown and small studios that completely break the crybaby pathetic claims of devs (and the parasocial shills/enablers) that try to pretend they can't make a fart into a paper bag without it somehow costing five hundred million dollars and that you can "only" have a game release with always online, hideous DRM, EOS, MTX, in-game currency, lootboxes, all the worst modern gaming cancer, etc. Then something like Vampire Survivors rolls out made for pennies and it's selling wild and talked about everywhere, pretty much making a whole sub genre. It keeps happening when yet another one of these mega hits from nothing appear and UTTERLY SHAME LAZY UNIMAGINATIVE GREEDY FORMULAIC DEVELOPERS AND THE IDIOT CHEERLEADERS WHO ENABLE THEM.

Money can help with certain ideas but it doesn't make a game good or bad for sure, nor does it make it original and fresh or copy/paste and dull.

I've been enjoying too the whole Palworld thing happening. Came out of nowhere and it is utterly dominating the charts here. Towering over even CS2 and others by a huge margin. From zero to hero type situation.

Payday: The Heist and the Payday franchise was itself ironically a zero to hero as it was at one time a new concept and IP. The first game was also sold at a low budget price, not intended to be anything like AAA and then it spawned a huge money maker with Payday 2 which funded an insane amount of expansion and spending. Payday 2 took about 2 years to make with a much smaller team and budget than Payday 3.

Part of the reason why I (and likely others) like(d) robocop rogue city so much is that its from a small studio that had a lot of misfires and somehow avoided dissolving but actually bothered to try to improve and the result is an extremely fun(ny) and competent FPS that is extremely faithful to movie source material and its rocking a 90% positive review rating on steam even now

"muh striketeam is gonna fix the game guys!!"
lmao.

dead game, 300 player average, most embarrassing game release I've seen in years. honestly it couldn't have been easier for them to make a good sequel and they fumbled it hard, all they had to do was copy the gameplay of pd2 and expand it lol.

I think the strike team will implement changes. But none of those implemented changes will be what players want.

And the whole concept of Games as entertainment is to be FUN.
PD3 simply is not.

Each to their own, but PD3 was never a good game as far as I'm concerned. and this becomes apparent after 30 or so hours into the game.
The drop off in player numbers is evidence to that.

Good luck, Harris only has barely 16 hours into PD2. So I highly, highly doubt he could write anything in regards to a paragraph without using ChatGPT. *edit* doesn't even own PD3 anyway. Clearly he is just a troll looking for attention.

InB4 the "strike team" implement extra DLC, MTX, in-game currency and boosts you buy with real money and then say it's what the "community wanted" from their careful review of feedback.

they knew making a sequel that has less than 5% of the content of the previous title would flop, so they just cashed in the hype and ran off. 4 lazy overpriced DLCs and then pull the plug, easy money

the complete lack of lobby features, basic QoL, the atrocious UI, and plenty of other issues are just insults meant to mock their audience
once the 4th dlc comes out keep an ear and eyes peeled to see what they will do if they stop communicating you'll know what there doing

OP, they can't really sell the IP for anything. If tomorrow morning another studio released a good heist game with the same mechanics, but none of the assets or trademarks, there is nothing they could do, and tbh if it's a good game, I wouldn't refrain from buying it and would just have fun.

(Also, if they fixed what I consider unacceptable, I wouldn't hold a grudge and would just buy the game.)

Of course they could still sell the IP. Even if it is pennies on the dollar. They still have a fan base and with PD2 selling over 40 million units. Its a known game. There would be many potential buyers. Even though SB ran it into the ground.

Thats exactly what 10 chambers is doing now with Den of Wolves. Of course others can make similar games. Thats what happens all the time. Its not like certain genre's can only be made by certain studios.

Nobody gets too far like that.

a whole 10 years worth of steps back for sure on that one, SB could go up to the guiness world record and have it be an official record for most steps back taken! :emofdr:

Maybe what will happen is they'll make Payday 2.5 just like when Postal 2 was returned to and reworked after Postal 3 was a disaster. They can have a heist were we search for the buried PD3 or PD4 with offline mode and fun mechanics.

More like one step forward and 15 steps back with $tarbreeze.
