Deep silver is just not a good publisher
They nearly killed Dead Island and Dying Light. And now they forced the devs to release a game 2 years too early. Again.

And yet, the average forum-goer here still doesn't understand the difference between Deep Silver and Starbreeze Studios.

It's plain as day that Deep Silver forced Starbreeze Studios to rush Payday 3's release and made a lot of painfully bad calls as a result. People should be directing their hate at Deep Silver while Starbreeze is scrambling to try to fix the game.

You fail to understand that if you as a company willfully enter into a contract that requires you to deliver a product in an unreasonable timeframe (and an unfinished state if need be), you are still Morally culpable at the very least.
Saying NO to a project and shelving it (temporarily, while you look for other partners) is always an option.
Hell, shocking as most will find it that I'm saying this : Tencent would have been a more sensible partner, and they would have been open to negotiations.

Also, I'd like to note that if you search the forums for the words Deep Silver (or their parent company Embracer Group, which is the REAL culprit here), you'll see that there is more than enough blame being sent their way.
That you're somehow not seeing it... well, it's still there regardless.

Never forget that Ride To Hell Retribution only existed because of Deep Silver

Strange how publishers are ALWAYS the ones people blame and developers are never at fault. You're saying there's NEVER been a instance of developers being at fault?

It would have been nice if their old CEO didn't squander millions of dollars on a bunch of moron pet projects, and forced them into such a bad position.

The actual design philosophy of this game is really cool, but everything is so half baked from a lack of time.

The publisher and the developer are both at fault.

Deep Silver was idiotic in the handling of the always online component at launch, but Starbreeze was objectively more idiotic by making the game always online in the first place.
Well, to be fair, Starbreeze isn't a great developer. They got lucky with Payday 2 which is top 5 all time game for me. But other than Payday 2 and Payday The Heist, they haven't had much success.

Good Game Studios can choose a good Publisher.

Very certain always online was Deep Silver's decision and the devs was just forced to implement it

I agree deepsilver is trouble. But I don't think we should let starbreeze off the hook that easy.

some of their choices which were 100% theirs are still very questionnable.

Honestly, I think the blame can lie with both. It's the same with volition.
