Yes, it's a classic bait and switch.

Make them think they're buying a well made complete game, but for the price of a AAA game give them a bare-bones buggy beta with an unstable server.

Not to defend them or anything, but I don't think 40 bucks is "Triple A Pricing". Unelss you mean Gold Edition of 90 bucks, which I suppose kind afalls into it.

But the base price was 40 bucks.

Then again, biggest red flag was the always online crap. Imagine when they just shut th eservers down whenever payday4 is in the horizon.

I'm with Vic tim on this.

£30/£40 is not over the top.

Games were that price back in the late 80s and 90s.

The problem is that the game is empty and shows no sign of going anywhere.

It is a pretty, but vacuous 'game'

The base version of Deep Rock Galactic costs 30 bucks. And that gives you every playable content in the game. All the dlc are cosmetic packs so the developers could keep supporting the game and add more content.
And that's not taking other games on sale into account.
Right now for 40 bucks you could also get Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, God of War, Letahl Company or any other of the 250 top rated games on Steam, except Baldurs Gate 3 wich is 53$.

Okay have to correct myself, you also can't get Dark Souls 3 form the 250 top games list, because it isn't on sale at all. But those two are really the only games from that list that cost more than 40$.
Hell you can even get any of the other games for the 30$ Payday 3 costs at the moment, depending on your choices even several of them.

I agree with that, yes.
For the money you pay, there are far better options out there.
Starbreeze would have been aware of this and yet still did nothing to make sure their release was amazing.
