How do you feel about Final Assault?
I haven't really thought about it that much, since I kinda like it. More specifically, I like Shade's voice lines surrounding it, the mechanic itself I'm indifferent about. "The cops aren't backing down this time!"

I read the current top review, though (https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199517526186/recommended/1272080/), and he had a whole paragraph about how much it sucks (shortened a bit so it's less of a wall):

"Final charge mechanic. [...] I have noticed usually when you start bagging loot is near where it starts. When it does endless waves up cops come until you are either dead or escape. I have found this system to be extremely annoying and unforgiving. This also limits any heist to be added such as the continuous making meth one from PD2. This feature in in every heist on loud, this was on PD2 but only on a handful of heist that were designed around it."

I haven't seen much discussion about it here on the forums. What do you think about it?

I think it's fine. It encourages you to actually get out of there. I'm fine with it honestly. But I will say that I hate the fact that at that point, only heavy swats and all specials continuously spawn. I think it should be more varied

I'm torn about whether I like it or not. I want to, but so far I just find it an annoying mechanic because at the end of the day it can be bypassed if you just wait to bag all your loot at once. And it makes the game totally unforgiving. I think it should have some level of forgiveness at some point but that's me.

Payday2 did this as well. when the escape triggers, the final charge begins.
It's nothing new

I think it triggers too early for a solo player, but that's about as far as my opinion goes on the matter. Could also do without shade reminding me constantly about it being the final assault and how they won't stop. I don't think it prevents things like Rats from being future heists. A heist like that would simply not trigger it or you'd simply be expected to fight through it anyways. Those heists are sort of boring when there's no fighting going on anyways.

Yeah when the escape countdown began, that was when it started. Honestly, I think this game needs an escape countdown because it would be more realistic instead of the van or the chopper just endlessly sitting there which is kind of goofy and give you more of a sense of urgency to get out of there

I don't necessarily hate the Final Assault, but I feel like Point of No Return was more sensible where it's implied they just send in such a big force that you have no hopes of winning.

Also, it probably could be disabled when there's only one human player as it can force you into a situation of trying to juggle bags to the escape as cops just keep swarming in.

had no problem with it in pd2.
same in 3.

I don't mind it but also would prefer if it wasn't a thing on maps that are not made to be an "end all be all loud mission"

I don't like it when it triggers before enough loot has been collected to allow for the escape.

On Overkill you generally have to stay in cover in one spot until the police regroup phase, at which point you have some time to do objectives, move bags, etc. If the endless wave triggers before that you can get stuck, and it can be very difficult to push at that point. Which can lead to a potentially unwinnable situation.

In my opinion, the Final Assault should only trigger when the escape is available, or on it's way.

it triggers on certain things

no rest for the wicked: enough loot in the van triggers it, i think lowering bollards a second time triggers it as well, so getting the loot to the van without trowing it in is a good plan.

Road rage: enough loot in the chopper triggers it,

Dirty Ice: enough loot in chopper triggers it,

Rock the Cradle: enough loot in cage triggers it,

Under the Surphaze: piking up the painting with the USB triggers it.

Gold & Sharke: enough loot in the chopper seems to trigger it.

99 Boxes: finishing the second wifi hotpots seems to trigger it after a few seconds

Touch the Sky: calling in the chopper triggers it

[EDIT] Little tip here, on some maps when u trow stuff into a van or chopper, it usually shows u how much off the required amount is in it, in the top left corner off the screen as a green bar that fills up, when that bar reaches 100% final assault triggers, getting everything as close to the loot area as possible is a good idea if u do not want to deal with a assault that never ends.

This should be in a guide if it's right. Is that one for Surphaze correct? You could grab that painting first if you wanted to, it still procs Final Assault?

Can't confirm, but it's the last of the mission objectives. Would sort of make sense? It would just be a shortsighted requirement by the devs.

I want to be told how it happens instead of finding out at a really unfortunate moment, otherwise I like it
Waldherz Oct 6, 2023 @ 5:07pm
I like it. Really the time to finish stuff or go down.

Yeah, since that means it's possible to delay the Final Assault on some maps instead of it just happening. No one actually knows this information, though, so cue the guy triggering the assault super early before everyone's ready...
