Mask replaced with default Dallas

For some reason when customising it deleted the mask and replaced it with a Dallas' mask. It has no icon in the inventory and allows me to use Dallas' mask (with its proper coloring, not the plain white, star-spangled one) on any character. Whilst cool being able to use it on other characters, the main concern is that I cannot delete the mask, and the original mask id gone. Thankfully it deleted some random re-purchasable one, however the possibility of deleting a pre-order mask that cannot be repurchased is worrying. Also its possible that this can apply to weapons too, or anything else that allows customisation. As for how this happened I have no clue aside from that at the time I was customising the mask and finalised my choice as i loaded into a heist lobby.

I had this happen today after trying to equip my favorite mask after a cosmetic change just b4 a match making que popped. I applied the changes but got yoinked into the game lobby. After the game my mask was a blank icon as you described in my inventory and its the default dallas mask.

After some messing around. actually turns out it ain't just a Dallas mask. It will take the base version of whatever mask you last had equipped. So on the default character masks, pre-orders, and the Payday 2 challenge masks, it will be Dallas; if you instead choose a custom mask with a pattern or paint, it will just be the base version. And I think there is some way to have no mask as I had my joy without a mask for a brief second.
