Game is mid af?
With the game being set in NYC I was really expecting your handler to be some kind of violent Italian or Albanian character. Instead it's a weird AI sounding executive chick?

Also I may or may not be slightly crazy, but the game feels to me like the worst of both worlds from PC and Console games. PC games are notorious for having obtuse settings and controls but really shine in pure mechanical gameplay with emergent game mechanics. Console games are notorious for having overly simplistic "samey" games with strange graphical settings that can't be toggled easily but have excellent optimization for their hardware.

So this game seems to take the worst of both worlds, filling your keybinds with a bunch of useless junk and having weird graphic settings. Like why do I have a phone? Does this really add any new level of strategy or depth to PAYDAY 3? Why are interact and picking up stuff different keybinds? This game is trying to be a live-service sim-lite arcade shooter. Live service is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid and just kills what would be a great game at launch. And I don't think I need to tell you that sim-lite and arcade shooter do not mix well. Like at all. Not even a little bit.

Also the strange graphical settings. I understand NVIDIA basically told the devs to only put their antialiasing solution in the game, but cmon dude. My choices are Jaggy Mess > Blurry as ♥♥♥♥ > Slightly less blurry with horrible ghosting > Somewhat less blurry with the same horrible ghosting. I can change my graphic card settings to sort of "fix" this, but it's really not ideal at all.

So in conclusion, PAYDAY 3 is mid af. Was your experience different?

no ghosting or blurryness here.....so not sure what you are on about. Runs and looks fine at 5120x1440

'mid' is an understatement

That's why. The resolution. Most people play on 1080p, me included. It's just a great economic purchase to go for high refresh rate but a middling resolution. Devs don't seem to realize that most people play at 1080p though.

Did you turn motion blur off? Also it stuttered pretty bad at first but was fine in like 2 minutes for me. Still can't get in match though, only got through tutorials so far, lol

And really, the TAA antialiasing is just a cheap mcdonald's antialiasing solution. It is literally removing detail from the image to give the illusion of a "less jarring" image. And the fact that anyone thought this was a good idea just shows you the direction the game is going. Lazy "fixes" over substantial feature upgrades.

Turning the motion blur off for sure fixes most of that blurry feeling, but what I'm talking about is the inherent "blurriness" of TAA or whatever weird antialiasing they're using. It's a slight blur when the image is in motion which drives me absolutely nuts.

5120x1440 at 240hz and 1ms response is more than enough for me...not sure why thats relevent however....

What do you mean? Why did you buy the monitor in the first place? You bought your high resolution monitor because it gives higher clarity to the image correct? That means that if you are making a game you can cheat a little and put in a terrible setting like FXAA or TAA and you literally won't be able to notice the negative effect because your resolution is very high. That is not true for most people who play at 1080p.

you can set the AA to FXAA or just turn it off in the settings, just like every other game.

I notice a significant visual clarity increase with antialiasing OFF at 1080p, but the jaggies are worse than a XBOX 360 game. Can you explain how that makes any kind of logical sense?

Yes sir that is correct. Turning off the AA makes the game look like dogwater dookie. Turning it on makes it look like dogwater XBOX 360 tier dookie. Changing my graphic card settings may make it look better but that's something I expect to do in an old 2000s game, not a 2023 release.

And FXAA is not a solution. It is functionally a software version of smearing vaseline on my screen for "antialiasing". That's something I did on a 600x600 monitor my guy.

I bought this monitor because its 49 inches wide and I like screen real estate for work -- it just happens to also be good for my sim racing rig and other things..

Ultimately -- I am just saying there is no blurryness -- 1080p always looks like hot garbage to me anyways -- then again there hasnt been a 1080p monitor in my house in the last 10 years. -- except the one that runs my monitoring display...temp...ph....salinity etc of my fishtank...

also the type of AA is one selection..then you must select the other box..for performance etc -- its off by default regardless of AA mode selected.
