You can bring them to the vault while masked. The only map that forces casing mode is the nightclub. That's only if you're solo and only until you scan the invite and walk past the bouncers.

If ur masked u can grab civilians (guards too but i'm not sure if u can when ur allready spotted by them). If ur unmasked trying to do the first mission u can try and guess the code (using the numbers highlighted with the fngerprints when u walk up to it), u dont need the manager there for the iris scan, it's just one of the options...

If u wanna beat NRFTW unmasked, u have to guess the Vault Pin
U are able to see the numbers on the keypad with UV and then it is guessing game
