PAYDAY 3
Pricing of the multiple editions are worrying
I noticed something about the different versions of the games

So the standard edition is worth 40$, and the gold version is worth 90$.

The gold version, besides some exclusive cosmetics, gives you a year of the season pass, which will include 4 heists, tailor packs, and weapon packs.

Are they saying that in 1 year, the updates they will release will be worth more than the base game?

Makes me worried for the games launch, as well as how much theyll be charging per dlc.

People really make mountains out of molehills.

Payday 3 is a game that's promising you content for the next 5 to 10 years. This puts it in a similar category of games to things like MMOs, which usually have a pricing model of 50$ buy-in and then 50$ per expansion (roughly every year). That's not factoring in games with monthly subscriptions or battle passes, let's say Destiny 2, where you're paying 50$ per year for the expansion and then an extra 15$ every 3 months for the season pass.

Same thing here. It's not that dramatic.
I mean, I have a big problem with games like that anyway, but besides that.

Its wouldnt be a big deal if they werent also adding in game currency on top of it

I think we best save our judgements until we see how it actually is in practice, all things considered.

As long as the microtransactions are exclusively for cosmetics, I don't really care.

Slippery slope. Look at destiny 2 for example

That's not a valid comparison, and that wasn't a "slippery slope" Destiny 2 launched like that.

Destiny is a MMO, and needs to do huge content annually, while still making sure they produce new high effort content every 3 months, Bungie has like 1500 employees, and Overkill had 75 as of 2015.
just play the game with base weapons, buy new heists only, and you are good to go <3

I think the Legacy Collection is only like 10$, and that'll shave off a massive amount of the DLCs, and then if you just don't buy the optional cosmetic Tailor Packs and Weapon paint job stuff, you're down to a pretty fair price point for like, 10 years worth of DLC.
Eh, fair I guess

I just dont want to pay them 40 dollars and then a year down the line pay them another 50 dollars for a few updates

Especially when other games update their games for free

ESPECIALLY when they are also adding in in game currency
To be honest, $50 (and you probably won't get all the tailor packs, ect. ect.) is a totally reasonable amount even if you only play for a couple hours a week. That's like 100 hours a year.

Im a bit of a jew when it comes to spending money. Rare I ever buy a game thats not on sale or isnt a steam key. Payday is just one of my favorites and I really wanted to play it when it came out since I havent been able to do that for the first 2.

The slippery slope fallacy is never a valid argument.

If you believe in slippery slopes, then you should stop leaving your house. That's the first step to being mugged, hit by a car, or killed in a shooting. You'd better stay home and not engage on that slippery slope.

But... come to think of it, getting out of bed exposes you to slipping in the shower, food poisoning, allergies, choking hazards, you might even just trip and fall down your stairs. You should stay in bed.

Don't just say "lmao slippery slope". Bad argument. No substance.

Explain why you think paying for cosmetics, and only cosmetics, is bad.

"Hey where did you get that cool cosmetic?"

"Oh, I just bought it with my debit card. You can't unlock it otherwise."

This too, is never a valid argument.

Cosmetics costing money goes to making the games cheaper, having to pull less money from consumers over new content, etc. etc.

Also, who the ♥♥♥♥ cares about cosmetics anyways? Why is the argument always over what it does to the useless dress-up and not over gameplay content?
You people would have a meltdown over monster hunter rise DLC page

Okay well take this for example

Games like Team Fortress 2 had constant updates, that included gameplay features as well as cosmetics

The items, maps, and balance changes were free, but cosmetics still had to be unlocked by buying keys to open crates.

As time went on, they stopped updating the game entirely, and only released community made cosmetics because they didnt have to make actual updates in order to make a bunch of money

Easily could happen to any game. But go ahead and tell me this isnt a valid argument too.
