The assets size are so small, the dev could make them a little bit bigger :)
I simply can't play the game with my poor eyesight. :( Changing the desktop resolution manually to 800x600 did not help for some reason, even though it sounds like a logical workaround that should fix it.
I don't want to refund the game, because I really wish to play it. I will wait and hope this will get fixed, or that another workaround presents itself. Oh man, what a bummer. Reminds me of Cogmind - another legendary roguelike that I can never play, because the graphics are too small. With Gogmind this will never be fixed due to how the game is built, as it would require redoing everything. I really hope this is not the case for Rift Wizard.
Developer, please, please, add an option to upscale the graphics. Yeah it's not pixel perfect, but most people don't care about pixel perfect. Those that do, can play it that way.
EDIT: I found an application that will create a shortcut for you easy enough here: http://www.bcheck.net/apps/reso.htm
That will probably help most of you... but it raises a new problem for me. When using the shortcut, it disables the steam overlay, which I need for the controller configuration I'm setting up (spell wheel). Hopefully someone here will have a better solution for modifying the .exe itself, or something like that.
Refunded after 3 minutes of "play". Sad.
First off, I have no plans to do any kind of automatic uneven pixel stretching, its ugly and I don't want it in my game.
The game has a minimum resolution of 1600x900.
Which was previously typoed in the store as 1400x900- how embarrassing for me! Sorry about that.
In the future, I might look into making the game do the resolution downscaling that AlienHuntinYeti mentioned automatically to support very high resolutions.
Anyways if your device does not currently support this resolution, my recommendation is to refund the game and buy it at a later date, once your device is ready.
That lets you scale in to a part of your screen. I recommend selecting the 'follow the keyboard focus' and 'zoom by 25%' options. Then zoom in until it fills the whole screen.
That will let you simulate a 900 x 450 display. Which is much more playable than the default for standard laptops (1366 × 768).
Would this help take care of the excess black space around the game window on higher resolutions?
edit: what do you know, I'm an idiot
