Overlord: Raising Hell

Overlord: Raising Hell

Game will not load.
The game refuses to load, and when I try to load via teh game's exe file and not the shortcut steam creates I get an error message. It stats "The program can't start because binkw32.dll is missing from your computer. Trye reinstalling the program to fix this problem." Now here's the kicker, this is a reinsallt and I verified the game integrity. So what the what!?

Just a thought but I didn't buy this game because it doesn't say it plays on any OS other than XP or Vista. Are you running windows 7,8?

I am haing the exact same problem you are having Zutaradimus! If you find a way to fix it let me know please. Otherwise I will be working on the issue when I can to see if my tricks will work, lol.

Windows 7. I'll just try installing it again tomorrow. You never know, could just be the download being stupid. My connection likes to go haywire at times.

Having the same issue.

Game wouldn't load at all from Steam Library, and not by running the overlord.exe directly either.

After enabling the "run as Administrator" (or whatever it's in English) option for the overlod.exe file, it continued to the the message the OP is talking about. I found that dll file in several game folders under Steam, and copied it to the Overlord folder. Then it asked for mss32.dll instead. Found it too in other game folders, copied it too.

Now, when trying to start it, either it's from Steam or running the exe, it asks for permission to make changes, then nothing happens. I've checked if it's running in the background, but it's not listed in the task manager.

I'm running Windows 8.1

Btw, messing with the Launcher.exe doesn't change anything, it's just about getting the menu or skipping it.

Edit: changing compatibility mode doesn't seem to affect anything at all.

My copy did work on Win 7 . I haven't played in a while now I have your problem. I've reinstalled twice , played with compatibility mode, deleted app cache ,verified files : says missing 2 file downloads and gives same result.

I'm out of ideas - hope someone can figure it out.

We need a broken game curator - so you can subscribe and get an idea if it has problems before you buy. There are many broken games - Myst does not work , now Overlord there are more.

Overlord: Raising Hell works fine. You need to install Overlord AND Overlord: Raising Hell. Raising Hell is simply a DLC of sorts for the first game. Google this stuff like I did, and you too will realize just how much of a noob you can be without a little forthought. Yes I'm including myself in that statement.
You are so right ! Really weird - I could have sworn that I never installed Overlord and the raising Hell did work. Anyway I installed Overlord and voila- it works - I was convinced that I didn't need it and hadn't needed it in the past. Feeling pretty stupid.
Thanks

Yeah, it's a bit odd Raising Hell was implemented as a separate game instead of a DLC. In any case, installing Raising Hell overwrites your config program (so it says Overlord: Raising Hell in the title banner). You can launch the game either with the Overlord entry or Raising Hell entry; both points towards the same EXE. (What I launch depends on whether I'm planning to play the base game or the expansion.)

Simply not necessary, reported publishers DLC in Overlord Raising Hell, and when downloading conventional Overlord these DLC are present, and the problem is solved.
