What we hope to see in overlord 3
Ohhia. Just thought I'd start this thread to brainstorm with the community about what we'd all like to see in overlord 3 so we can day dream :P I'll start things off:

Modding support for pc's:
This would allow for replayability if the 3rd game gets its very own steam workshop and modding tools. It would have more replay value and would probably attract people to the game.

Also, we should have a map to see what parts of the world we have conquered, and what isn't conquered yet, that would be nice. In the first and 2nd games, it just says regions. Which is nice, but it doesn't feel quite like we're building an empire. Another thing that would be nice is more end-game battles. I understand it's a story driven game but you could easily make people become interested in the game if you add replay value to the game, such as at the end of the story-driven campaign, gnarl tells you about a new land they recently discovered, where there is almost endless violence because of several different warrior tribes fighting for control over territory. Heck, we could even have it so we find another secluded empire to conquer, where instead of a story campaign, it goes into total war mode sort of. Could even rip off some ww2 battles overlord style :P.

I could go further into depth with a few ideas of mine to add replayability, that is just an example.

Thoughts? anyone else have any ideas hoping the game devs see this thread?

Well for 1, I HIGHLY doubt anyone from Triumph studios is going to see this.

I really would like to see Overlord 3 in development, unfortunately they're coming out with some kind of Coop based game, rather than minion controlling one. Also, due to recent behavior regarding what's become of what we THOUGHT was going to be Overlord 3, they (Triumph studios) have confirmed that a 3rd game in the franchise is still possible, and that this current under development coop based game is just a completely new direction/concept of theirs (Unfortunately they kept the name "Overlord", which is silly of them).

As for mods, mods would be AMAZING! Not sure how they would be implimented though?
I would love to see more Peons/Peasants brought to my throne room for judgment like you did in Overlord 2, that was something that struck me.

Very disappointed they removed good and evil from OL2, that was one of the best traits the first game had was optional behaviors/decisions, so please, if there's a third, bring back optional morality choices (Because who doesn't love ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horns growing out of their legs and elbows!?).

I loved the guards that were situated at the gates and elivators around camps you took control over in OL2, but maybe have them a little more active? Like, people can try to come into your base and pillage meanwhile you already have on duty minion guards there to stop them, also being able to hold them captive bring them back to your throne room, and decide their fate with different out comes e.g-

Kill (Grants x amount of life force)
Slave (Works for you in your castle/camp as guard or w/e)
Perform (Does some kind of stupid dance? Jester's companion/slave/circus fool?)
etc. etc..

Mounts, keep mounts, and LOTS of maids/Wives, cause y'know, that romance stuff is awesome! >:D

More spells, keep similar original spells AND new ones like summoning temporary demons (You're an Overlord ffs, he can do that ♥♥♥♥!)

Bring back Arena mode(From OL 1) and the Colosseum (From OL 2), why did they strip OL2 of some of it's best concepts? What goes through dev's minds to remove ♥♥♥♥ like that?

OVERLORD TRANSFORMATION! How cool would it be to be able to transform into some kind of ravaging beast to fight a long side your own minions?

Combine OL and OL2's Castles, so there's an underground and an upper part to the castle. Just for image, imagine the underground lair and there those floating platforms travel you upstairs to where the Tower heart use to be in OL 1, and so from there is the rest of the Castle, which = a more customizable castle/Bigger castle.

That's about it from me, but if there's ever an Online QA from official Triumph studio forums or announcment of the sort, I will be reposting these ideas.

Lemme know what you think, if it happens, it could be amazing!

PS- Funny thought! If I ever earn enough money in my life, I will gladly kickstart/help fund the production of Overlord 3! (it really is my most favourite game from back in 2007, finished it twice and now currently finishing it a third time).

I've done at least 10 playthroughs of first overlord on xbox. Don't judge me >.>

Sobriety not guaranteed in this list ...

1) Bring back Good and Evil, as seen in OL1.

2) More locations to grind souls, for a less overall grindy feel (armor and weapon upgrades). Wasn't as much an issue in OL2.

3) Appease the crybaby minority with the choice of male or female overlord.*

4) Enrage the crybaby minority with subtle, in character references to "smaller hitbox."*

5) Better control of minion survivability (new ways to buff minions, both temporarily and permanently).

6) Poke fun at even more steriotypes and subcultures. More hippie or stoically depressed elves, drunken dwarves, hefty and well endowed fairies, etc.

7) Harder puzzles, but let's please not revisit the green/spider mount elevator puzzle ...

8) On second thought, please do revisit that one.

9) As BOT Nexus mentioned, a map for us to keep track of what is most impotant. Our evil empire.

10) More Gnarl.

11) Even more Gnarl.

12) Can we please have Grorge Tekei voice an "evil" hippie elf? Oh myy!

13) More varied peon commentary, to give a feeling of a larger, thriving world. Over time peons would comment on what you're doing elsewhere in the world, with a variable level of accuracy to mimic the effect of a rumor mill/long distance telephone game.

14) I know not everyone would agree with this, but I'd like an OL game where the amusing antics, commentary and laughs keep rolling, and finally at some point -not at the end- the Devs rip it all away like sadistic barbarians, giving the player a purely emotional reason to knucke down and be the Overlord.

  • These are jokes. Take them as they are meant to be. Light hearted.**

[**] Because someone will always find something to complain about.
