I know all of you want this game to become basically a slideshow, but come on... please at least give your mages something to do, like hunting. If we keep up, in a few months everything will be so automated that you wil just see your mages in the screen idle 99% of the time, the game will lose the meaning completely.
Garden?? why? you already can make a room and put all your planters inside. You can decorate it with huge windows to look like a greenhouse. You can put many other things. If you want a garden just outside, just put your planters outside and you have a garden. As simple as that lol.
And the amount of rat-hunting I have to do is crazy. I have to focus on it more than anything else in the game.
And I don't mean a rat-trap that just kills everything for me to pick up. I mean a way for rats to be marked for hunting so the mages DO get something to do.
Why a garden? Because they're nice.
As Nemesis already pointed out; you can zoom out, double-click a rat to select every single rat on your screen, click hunt, then click 5 so your mages prioritize this task. I get a 2nd fire mage early on so I have 2 mages that can split the hunting and cooking between them. Depending on secundary skill they either harvest or research in their spare time. One works during day and may teach, the other at night and is a big help killing croa as well.
I have restarted many times in an effort to prepare better for the future. Such as hunting lots of rats from day 1. I haven't even completed the game as far as it goes yet, even though I have 300 hours spent *shrug*
I do agree the storage system can be improved, as do many players with us. But for now we will have to make do with what we have. Devs are working on improvements and also harvest quilts are coming so all our magic lives will get easier!
EtA: looks like they just came, check events and announcements!
Just learn how to play. You will realize that hunting rats is the least of your problems.
Or if it was a reaction to the world. Leave lots of rice (or corpses, etc. whatever dire rats eat) easily accessible outside for them to eat, maybe with shrubbery (such as wyrmweed) to nest and hide in = lots of rats. Wall it away in your garden - few rats.
The specific mechanics matter less, but having more influence on it would help.
The midden jelly cube thing can make sinew out of carcasses, which I've found very helpful.
I really agree with this, my biggest problem right now is hunting Croa. I want more of them.
I beg to differ. It's a braindead and tedious mechanic that adds nothing to the gameplay. Anyone saying they enjoy this aspect is lying to themselves.
Not to mention that even if you were to hunt every rat there is it simply aren't enough when your school grows big enough.
I agree but braindead and tedious is exactly how some people like it. After you have done it 3000 times it tends to lose it's appeal to most of us... not everyone though.
I just wanted a little tesla zapper to kill rats off. If certain people want to do it 50000 times then they can just not build them but as usual that sort just want to spread the misery they thrive on. Like mold.
You can't win against that sort so don't bother trying. It's the devs that need to see the message and I couldn't care less what those others post. I only get to see some of their posts in quotes in others posts because they are blocked. Unhelpful and generally just quarrelsome folk who are quite simply irrelevant.
Ok, so basically not a single gameplay mechanic adds anything to the game. Thanks for the clarification. Im not surprised the game is more and more dull in every update... and if you consider hunting rats "tedious" in mass, dude, just stop playing right now... because thats one of the less tedious tasks to do. Seriously.
