Growing (blooming) the Jade Eggplant
I performed the ritual to get the Jade Eggplant. The tooltips state that it requires certain plants to get it to grow, but there's no indication what those plants are. Am I just supposed to randomly plant different combinations of plants around it?

Possible spoilers ahead:

I've seen older videos showing what the four plants are, but thing have changed since then (one of them, apparently, is that the game used to specify what plants were required). Is it the four plotted plants (Bitterrice, Crabbage, Rock Candy, and Jumping Nuts?).

Seems strange that they would remove the tooltip specifying what is needed, unless I'm missing something. I did start the quest during a wasting event, so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it. Probably a moot point since the gloom overtook it already.

The plant requirement for blooming it was removed in an update in December according to the patch notes:

I haven't played through to that point since that update, so I don't know if they reverted the change or not, but there's no mention of a reversion in any update notes since.

Thanks Jaggid Edje. I wonder if the message was just a left over bit of code because of the Wasted Event that was stopping plants from growing.

I just performed this ritual in my most advanced game. It now requires 3 apprentices: one with 6 dark, one with 6 nature and one with 2 dark and 2 nature. No plants or other ingredients are required.

It was the Wasted Event that caused the message to be shown.

The first time I did perform the ritual with 3 apprentices, but at the time I performed it there was a Wasted Event occurring. The Wasted Event prevented the Eggplant from growing (not surprising), but the tooltips suggested that the reason it was not growing was because it needed certain plants nearby (without specifying what plants). When the Wasted Event was over I performed the ritual again (the Gloom had overtaken my first egg; a new one had respawned) and this time the Eggplant was growing the moment the ritual was finished. It looks like the message about needing certain plants is left over from when the Devs removed that requirement.

If any Devs are reading this, it's a minor bug but probably should be addressed at some point. Thanks all. I'm really enjoying this game.
Glad you got it sorted and are enjoying it. I love the game as well.

I played a ton during early access (around 400 hours) but then stopped to give them time to finish it, so I'm now back to playing it again after a few months of not. So much new and changed stuff it almost feels like a new game again.

I've just had exactly the same issue - glad to know what's causing it and I'll try again once the wasting is finished!
