Rat's Nest Question?
I built 2 Rat's Nest and put them together in the same pen, I have feed trough too. But it's seem like they never reproduce, the nest still say "capture two dire rat to begin breeding" even I already have 2 rat, one on each nest. Can someone help me what I did wrong?

Im having similar problems with croa nests. It seems the last update broke this mechanic. I captured probably like 5 croas by now, i have two pastures (had to build two cuz the space is too tiny, as always) and yet i dont see any croa in them or reproducing and nests still say i need 2 in each one...

Also i dont have a clue where my captured croas went. They just dissapeared...

The pen should have enough space not only for the "permanent" rats, but also for the excess ones. I encountered a similar problem myself, only after half a real day realizing that rat pens need EXCESS space to actually work, and as a result, several crafting benches were idle, running into a lack of reagents.

Maybe that is your case too.

So how do I know if my pen have enough space for them, just make them big ?

And each rat net you can capture 1 rat nest, so you need to start with 2 rat nest right?

Thats not the issue. My two croa pens are like 7 tiles lenght, more than enough to hold at least 2 and reproduce. Hell you can do it even with less than that, just 5 or 6 tiles because i did it in my previous run with rats. Stop missleading people.

And if you dont have enough the rat nest will tell you in the description.

There is definitely a bug that came out in the last update. If you couldnt breed just 2 croas in 6 tiles that would be a problem cuz almost every single open space is tiny as hell. Run landscapes are completely random and most of the times you dont even get one open space bigger than 6 tiles. And of course im not going to build an enclosure far far far far away where my studnets take half a day to reach. And of course im not going to build a broomrack and fundation just for the purpose of it, ridiculous.

But again, in my previous run i have a tiny space of 5 tiles but i still was able to breed 2 rats. So, again, a bug. And if this is the problem.. better the devs improve this mechanic cuz its ridiculous the amount of space you need to breed em. Completely ridiculous.

Not sure what you mean. For every nest you need at least 2 captured animals, croas or rats to start reproducing, and of course food. I have both and my croas just dissapeared. I keep capturing em but nothing happens lol.

Anyways i hope the generated landscape is improved in future updates cuz right now is ridiculous. I keep having to build single buildings separatedly cuz the plain terrain spots i get all the time are like 5-6 tiles in lenght. Amazing this game went out of early access. Are we going to need to restart another run everytime this happens to see if we are lucky and we get a better terrain? sigh.

You need appropriate space, pen and feeding trough. Then you have to make the required food at the cooking stations and assign it to the feeding trough to get them to breed.

This is what you did wrong. A rat nest isn't a space for one rat. It's the seat of a breeding rat population. You need a second rat in each nest.

I shudder to think what you're doing to the poor landscape, but there's nothing stopping you from making one building that has foundations on multiple ground levels if you want to.

There is an option during new game to have only flat terrain...

And why in h3ck i would build foundations twice in that case? dude stop writting on my comments, seriously. There is a reason flat landscape now is an option. Before that random landscape could make many runs a pain when trying to place pastures. But i guess you didnt play enough runs. Of course.

Well, now I'm certainly not going to.

I have no idea what 'build foundations twice' means to you, though. AFAIK you can't remove foundations, so any given foundation can only be built once. I can't come up with any reason not to build foundations at two or more different times over the course of the run.
