Fog Aegis
...and what is it even for. If you put them directly on the way on miasma - they just get swallowed when it moves. If you put them far enough away - they do nothing. So why do you need those for? Like a one-time-use alternative to the cleansing ritual? Or am I missing something here?

when you click on the aegis it tells you how effective it is (like holds back 0.6x fog), the futher away from your school the less effective it becomes

however the effect stacks meaning if you put multiple fog aegis next to each other with the effect adding up to at least 1, then the fog will be fully frozen and wont advance at all (just keep in mind that someone also needs to 'ward' the aegis afterwards as it looses its charge)

So how many it needs? I put out 6 of those in 2 lines and they still got swallowed.

2 are typically enough? did they get swallowed 1 night later because they werent warded?

Nope, the same night they were built. All 100% warded.
I did noticed the miasma barely moved, like, 4 tiles or so instead of the usual 15-20 jump, but those 4 were just enough to cover both rows of aegi.

hmm that shouldnt have happened, do you have a save of before the aegis got destroyed? can you see if the same thing happens again when you load the save?
i would report it as a bug with the F8 feature in game
I mean, I can easily reproduce the setup :\ F8 function doesn't work for me for whatever reason (it just does nothing), so I guess I'll just make another post if it is a bug

Documented the whole ordeal here:

The first screen shows my setup with 6 newly build, charged aegi right before the dusk settles, and the second was taken moments after. You can see the fog advanced less than usual, but advanced still :(
That's very weird, while certain setting increases how much fog moves based on distance... And separate setting for flatly how much more, 6 definitely should've been enough. With default settings, 2 is enough via 1.2 days worth of fog, 3 if gloom is running. So 6 definitely should've been enough for highest difficulty.

I'm running Relentless Iron Mage, if it matters any :\
must be a bug, your aegis says it holds back 0.3x fog, you got 6 aegis -> 1.8x, fog should be completely frozen
even if the rightmost aegis dont count for some reason as they are slightly inside the fog already, you would still have 0.9x fog prevention and yet it still advanced further then 0.1x worth

your fog looks really odd aswell, is the fog slightly scewed to the back for you?

the first row aegis has a tiny bit of the head cut off by the fog
the second row aegis has the entire body cut of by the fog
the third row aegis has almost the entire base cut of by the fog
--> the fog is closer the further it is to the back

for me in my game the fog is pretty much straight, if I build aegis like in the picture all the aegis look the same in relation to the fog

So it's not clear from the pictures, I guess. This was taken right after I pushed the miasma back as far as it will go (Superior ritual full loadout on day 6) and the aegi were built as far out as map goes. They aren't actually *in* the fog, it's just the wall of fog angulates slightly on idle, creating this visual effect. The aegi on the first screen were put directly in front of the wall of fog.

Not sure if I get what you meant here, but I think you refer to the camera angle? I took screenshots with tilted camera for clarity (so you could clearly see all 6 aegi and that all of them were properly warded).

No i didnt mean the camera angle, I meant that for me the fog line is always exactly perpendicular to both the ground as well as the background, but in your screenshot the fog looks oddly warped in a way where it bulges into the background more then in the foreground (making it look like the aegis in the background is deeper in the fog then the one in the foreground)
however, this may just be how the fog at the edge of the world looks like, I havent ever paid attention to the fog at the world edge

Edit:
just tried the exact same setup as you have in your picture at the edge of the world:
the thing i was talking about with the fog looking odd is nothing, it is just one of the fog cloud animations bulging into the screen in the screenshot, making it look like it was the actual fog line that is poking in^^
so nvm that

besides that, I recreated the exact fog defense you have and for me it worked (however I am on the normal difficulty mode and each of my aegis say they ward against 0.6x fog)

4 in a row and have the ghost set on critical to refill them. It has worked for me forever, but I rarely use them now because I like the fog rolling in and dropping crystals when I push it back.

I just leave a section at the end so I can push back the fog whenever I need smokepearls.
