Until I click drag the whole floor of contents and re-select 'store' for the lot of them. Then they get stored again. Problem solved. Easy Peasey.
I don't think this is a bug as much as it is the game following your orders.
If you've ejected contents from a chest then logically you might not want those ejected contents put back into chests again. Makes sense, then, that the game doesn't automatically select the 'store' option for you again.
Check if this is what is happening for you.
Edit:
nvm, just tried it and indeed, if you remove the store order from an item, right-clicking it will not give you any options at all
so it really sound like this might be OPs problem
I vaguely recall from my last play session that the right click option wasn't available while the 'store' option was unselected, but once that 'store' option had been selected again, the right-click command was again possible.
If this is the case I can see that being a 'quality of life' issue, because being unable to right-click -> store just because 'store' was unselected would be irritating.
Relatively easy to get around though, if you know why you can't use the right click command at that point.
I'd have to to confirm by cranking up the game again since my memory is a little vague.
I personally wouldn't see it as a 'bug', so I won't be reporting it. If anyone else feels differently, the F8 option is there! 8D
I wouldn't say it's their 'problem' as such.
As mentioned, I can see it being considered one of those 'quality of life' issues since it seems unintuitive to not be able to use right click to directly command it.
I've been wondering what the deal is with this right click command system since I was having a bit of trouble with it yesterday.
It's been very useful to use to force students to do actions in order to complete trials quickly. Examples force eating to complete the diner trials, force refilling mana crystals for the charging trials, force listen for the dancing trials, etcetera.
Yesterday I had two students I was trying to force eat at the same time for the dining trials. Usually with the one student, as long as I shift-right click to eat when they've already picked up the item and are on their way back to the dining table, it'll chain the actions together. However if I try to chain it before they've picked up the meal, the action chaining doesn't seem to work. When I tried to do this with two students simultaneously, it would chain the 1st student seemingly, but if I then tried to create the action chain for the second student, the first student's action chain would be wiped.
I don't understand the logic there. Bit weird.
Edit: ...or was it that I wasn't given the option to action chain the second student ...? Argh! Foggy memory hitting me again.
200 hours in and multiple completed schools and I didn't even think to check whether the Store button got toggled off. It did, and that was the problem. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
I don't remember having this issue with taking other things out of chests, but I mostly do that with foody stuff. So I just checked... booting slop from a pantry keeps the Store option selected, but taking a meal, plant parts, refined materials, or shrinks out of a chest turns off Store. But that's by pushing the 'remove' button in the storage - if you just uncheck the item from the allowed storage, the Store option stays on for the expelled material.
Agree with previous posters that I'm not sure this rises to the level of a bug, but it might be considered QoL since usually when you kick something out of storage, you want to move it somewhere else, not just leave it on the ground.
