Victory -50 conviction
"A victory is needed", sounds exactly like I have lost battles, I have not.

Quite literally I just finished 2 battles, no heavy injuries or anything, but this debuff NEVER seems to go away..
Bug or am I missing something?!?

The Fire wands give a need for victory. The mage needs to either participate in battles or hunt mobs regularly to keep it going. every wand type has something like this and its made more needed at tier 3.
Did you have the fire mage actually participate in the fight?

This debuff is a stupid mechanics.
There's no fun micromanaging all the fire mages and you can't automate the process. Really annoying. Even one fire mage is a pain in the a$$

Try this:

Create custom group name “them fire mages”
Set status - losing their edge
Enable task type priority
Create custom priority group for “them fire mages”
Set Hunt to Emergency
Build a rat farm or three and give them rat feed.
Set breeding to 3-5 and enable Hunt Excess

When they get the debuff losing their edge because of low victory, they’ll start to hunt any excess rat immediately until they’re feeling “victorious” and lose their debuff. It will interrupt their normal activities , you can set it to very high priority instead, but it’s a way to automate it. It’s not like all your fire mages are cooking 24/7 anyway.

Unless you have 3 dragon woks and cooking food infinitely.

Last I checked a baby rat is born every 1.5 hours? Should keep your fire mages busy hunting when their victory gets too low.

Thank you all. The tooltips, even though they are a lot, are sometimes just confusing instead of helpful.

If you think this one is stupid.... the other ones are beyond the realms of stupidity then, specially the water mage requirement of "extrovert"... better for you to just stop playing now lol. You didnt play much did you?

To be honest, when I started to understand the stuff you explained to me here, I went into game, started theory crafting, creating groups and whatnot, and then I realized, "this is not fun" so I just pressed quit and will probably uninstall.

A game is supposed to be fun, or complicated and working well (I have more than 2k hours in ONI so I like complicated games, but they have to make sense)..
Maybe this is fun for others, but not for me...

Thanks again for the nice responses, without them, I would probably have spent another couple of hours in the game becoming more and more frustrated.

GLHF all! ❤️

Im confused by this. You do have a ton of hours played on a far more complex game like ONI but cant understand fire mages need to fight or kill critters to stay happy??? Ok well its up to you GLHF. :brotherflee:

Extrovert seems super easy? It should recharge most times when teaching, when eating, when recreating, when doing greenhouse work, when just running around populated areas...

I'm a bit more worried about Introvert, though it hasn't been a problem yet. (Easy if you only have lightning mages who do research a lot of the time, ofc.)
I personally have trouble with Extrovert because of my playstyle: I use a lot of potions (I hate the medical rest) and tend to always upgrade my students' wands for more/better relics and then add in Libations....well the Water mage is pretty frequently crafting by themselves. These days I just make Water the Apprentice skill with Lightning to take advantage of Introvert or with Earth since Grounded is one of the easiest needs to fulfill.
Introvert and Extrovert both also change during sleeping. So just letting them sleep in a single bedroom / three mage bedroom does already helps a lot.
If you have a single fire mage you can just let him hunt rats regularly and thats fine. For multiple fire mages it gets a bit more stressful.

However, there is no need to upgrade all wands to level three. In particular, you can reach lv 8 of elements with relicts and lvl 2 wands, too. So just upgrade as many wands as you are willing to handle. Also, some wands are easy (e.g. wind and earth, dark and nature) and are perfect for hybrid mages.

A lot of mages have a favorite roommate, so single bedroom would have a heavy penalty unless you managed to juggle it right so they never got used to not sleeping alone. (I think those bonds might reset on hiring to staff? Unsure, but I think I've seen them go away without sending away the subject of the relationship.)

And 3-bed rooms wouldn't be able to rate for the higher room bonuses, right?

So it's possible, but may be an expensive way to achieve the goal.

There's at least one high-tier staff bedroom that allows 3 beds; I forget what it's called and I'm away from my gaming computer so I can't check, but look in the Book of Rooms.
What's crazy, at least to me, is the difference between difficulties for this requirement. The conviction penalty is only -10 on relaxed, but negative -50 if not playing relaxed. No middle ground between such extremes seems odd (at least to me).

It's only -50 if you let the penalty run completely empty, which is faintly ridiculous to reach unless you're totally unaware (and you'll probably be aware of immediately because you'll get a break chance warning). It stocks up to 60 hours, and it's at -25 for something like the last 24 hours before it goes to full empty. I didn't know about the -50 because it was obvious I should never let it get there.
