Whats the best cpu for Mind over Magic
Im in the progress of building a new gaming pc.
And I know the Ryzen 7 9800X3d cpu is getting all the spotlight these days for being the best 3d gaming cpu.
But I tend to play games like Mind over magic, way more than fast pased 3d games.
So I wonder if the Ryzen 9 9950X with 16 cores would be a better choise for me?

I plan to pair the cpu with the Rtx 5080 when its released

Dude, ive been playing with a 6+ years-old cpu on max settings without a sweat... are you just fooling around? it doesnt matter what cpu you have in some very specific situations the game can lag a little bit. Nothing you can do about it. And it has nothing to do with the "power" of your pc.

Again, thats natural. Specially in games made with unity there is nothing you can do to prevent performance lost in later stages of the game, the more mages you have, the more quilted, the more lights the more underschool discovered all of that adds up.

Ways to mitigate this? having the less number of mages and quilted you can, no oversaturate your school with braziers, torchs and candelabra (use windows if you can).

Or you could also lower the graphic quality to medium, i dont think the jump in detail is that noticeable.

And if you are building a gaming computer.. find AAA games and build it based on them, lol, not mind and magic...

hi..

i have both a 9800x3d and a 9700x. for cpu intensive gaming, (most city builders, management and craft simulation) i prefer my 9700x, for more action based, (3rd person, fps and similar) i prefer the 9800x3d, though that difference is nominal to the 7800x3d (if you can find one). the 9950x is more a work horse for say rendering, graphic/sys compiling.. ect. i would say that if you are looking for a "jack of all trades" cpu.. the 9700x is a decent candidate and should be reasonably priced. i am rather impressed with mine. both my systems run with a rtx4070 ti super. until the 5 series gets its nonsense worked out, i would highly recommend staying away from it. there is plenty of info out there, i would recommend watching some "gamers nexus" yt first before committing to any 5 series.

all the best.

edit: i just realized the age of the post. my apologies. will leave it here in case anyone else is interested.
