like-minded games?
I like this game, but get frustrated at the sudden cascade of depression that inevitably ruins the whole school after someone dies, for instance (-40 for 4 days?) But it is an early access game, so not grumbling,
It is just that I came here from 'News Tower' and 'Casino manager tycoon', similar in their gameplay and that they are also EA.

So, any recommendations for this type of game (it is what? Tower colony management simulator games that offer a challenge?) that perhaps is finished and does not frustrate?

Thanks

Check out "Rimworld" and "Oxygen not Included"

I can recommend "Spellcaster University" as having a pretty similar feel to this game.

There are a whole lot of colony management sims out there, with different atmosphere and setting and emphasis on different mechanics. If you like complex games with an emphasis on good management decisions and climbing a massive tech tree, Oxygen Not Included is fantastic, but it is also relatively difficult; it has quite a steep learning curve, and problems can spiral out of control quite easily. Or if you are interested in a more high-level management simulator, you might try something like Kingdoms and Castles or Banished, where individual people aren't modeled in as much detail and mood is a more generic and global "happiness" stat.

Do note that MoM lets you adjust many aspects of difficulty in the Settings, even in an ongoing game. I can't remember if there is a setting specifically for mood loss after death, but there are several options for adjusting mood in general.

Ratopia is a good game as well , though it is in EA but they have been amazing at adding new content to the game. It does have an invasion mechanic , it can be turned off for a peaceful game. But the game was loads of fun for me , I am just waiting for it to hit 1.0 before jumping back into it.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions.
I am familiar with all of them and have them all, but for Ratopia. That one I know of but shied away from because of its EA status. I also know of 'Potion Tycoon' and 'Antideluvian winds" and even bought "Painter studio" to scratch the itch. There is also 'Project Highrise', "Mad Tower Tycoon" and the upcoming "Ale Abby" that seems interesting.

Seems like similar games are hard to come by, but perhaps I overlooked some?

Most of those are crafting/tycoon games rather than colony management sims, so I guess it depends on what you are looking for? If you are interested in hands-on management-y colony management sims and you liked RimWorld and Oxygen Not Included, you could try Foundation, Founders' Fortune, Timberborn, or (if you have a high tolerance for obtuse UI) Dwarf Fortress. If you also like survival games, Medieval Dynasty is an interesting blend of colony management and survival. Personally, I would also highly recommend Clanfolk but it is in EA, which sounds like it is a dealbreaker for you.
