Trees?
Hello:

I'm new to this game and read some things, watching some tip and tricks but am still a little lost on how to keep up with the fog? Of course, it is getting closer and closer, but my trees are not grown. I keep running out of wood. I must be doing something wrong or missing something?

Thank you for any advice.

Are you doing the ritual to push back the fog, ( The big gem thing under the school) if you do it periodically you should have space and time to grow trees.

Research tree planters and make those to increase tree supply. If you wait until the fog is close to the school, the ritual to push it back becomes free and won't cost wood.
You can also let the fog come extra close to cheapen the push which changes the resources.
Also always do the stronger push, it's not that much more expensive compared to amount pushed.
Otherwise yeah start using planters.

If your trees aren't growing they might be shaded? If you build stuff above them within a certain vertical range it blocks sunlight. (Indoor planters can still get light from windows or glass roofs, but make sure your lighting is up to 100% for max growth speed.)

I just let the fog get all the way to my doorsteps and then push it all the way back with advanced ritual (2 teachers 1 student some raw gutberries and some wood). This is the most beneficial way to deal with it, as it is cheap, always available, renews the whole map and gives you plenty of time until the next push.
It does somewhat limit your build style tho, since the fog will break every item it touches, and so if you want to allow it to roll to your doorsteps you'd have to pretty much only ever build up (as I did) and never expand on the sides.

Oh, and also make sure you order people with the best wands to perform the ritual. The better the wands, the farther away they'll be able to push the fog.
