Why do my beds keep rerverting to auto assign?
I get lots of mages needing rest.
Dont want to assign a particular mage to a bed, I want any mage to use it.

Well. Are you referring to new beds you have built? Ones you have placed that are changing their access on their own? In my experience, mages and students will develop preferences for who they sleep/eat/recreate with and it is generally a good thing to support those since they give convictions malus/bonuses if they aren't or are satisfied. You generally for the conviction bonuses are going to want staff to sleep in staff bedrooms, and students in the common rooms.

When you have like 3 beds for 6 mages you definitely do not want auto assign kicking in. It really does not matter what mages preference is as sleeping outside of bed is usually worse for non-wolfkin. Then again as soon as you can manage, it is probably better to give it's own bed for each staff and keep some unassigned for students.

Then again, so far I can not see auto-assign being overwritten in my game, except maybe when you rebuild bed.

The cheapest bed costs a mere 5 wood. Why would anyone stop at 3 beds and have half their people bedless?
You can easily fit at least 2 beds each in the summoning room and the book of rituals room, and there's usually plenty of space for a bed somewhere (even if it's just a 1-priority tucked away in the under school that is only used in last resort).

Yes I do not want auto assign kicking in but it does.

I have 8 staff on 2 schedules so only want four beds.

I am trying my best to prevent it. It is a game changer

Jay> You missing the point. I am well aware about this and it does not matter. There also other criteria what you may have to consider and you can not easily get other people play exactly like you do. There again, auto assign should not reset when player has turned it off.

Thank you for the sensible answer. That other player makes a bed for every mage?
Has he not heard of scheduling?
You could actually play with several Mages and only have one bedroom. that is the fun of this game, working efficient ways to mange your mages.

I have not had issues with beds not following the access I have or have not given them--but I generally build enough of them. Your best bet to find if there is something else in play/a bug/error in the way you are perceiving it is to F8 to submit to the devs. I would bet if there IS an issue/bug it's a coded assumption of when checks are made to find a bed by pawns.
