You will need to manage individual peoples' schedules and priorities to make sure all of the various tasks are being done each day, gather or farm resources like wood and stone, forage wild plants or grow crops for food, and cater to individual likes and dislikes to keep people happy, on top of building up infrastructure, researching new tech, clearing out the Underschool (basically a dungeon made up of turn-based combat encounters, which you need to open up to access important resources and equipment), and keeping the Fog at bay (which requires regular investments of materials and time). If you have any time left over, you can run some classes to train your students so you can either graduate them (which gets you specific resources) or hire them (to expand your staff). Your school is built freehand, with each room made up of wall/floor/roof tiles you place individually, rather than premade room blocks like in SU. This means you can build very creative and attractive structures if you want, but you have to put more thought into designing and connecting spaces.
Personally, I very much enjoy Mind Over Magic, and recommend it highly if you like colony management sims, but if you are looking for something where the moment-to-moment gameplay (as opposed to the setting/premise) is similar to Spellcaster University, it isn't really the same kind of game.
