Faction specific student summoning not working?
After the Archive update, I built the room and have relics on display on plinths. In general, it looks like the passive from displaying a relic is working for me. I can't seem to get any of the faction specific summoning passives to work. When I go to summon a student, I have the option to select a relic. Relics show up in the list but all of them have the summoning button disabled.

What am I missing? Is there some requirement to use them that I don't know about?

1. Make sure you have a relic whose summoning effect matches the faction you are trying to summon. Not all relics can be used to summon a specific faction, only the ones whose attunement requirement correspond to that faction.

2. Make sure the relic in question is a low enough level to give to a new student. I forget exactly, and I can't fire up the game to check right now, but IIRC it has to be level 3 or below.

Ok thanks, I'll check the level. From my experience, only the ones that meet your first criteria show up in the list for me, when selecting relic at the student summoner. I definitely had some that were level 12+ and at least 1 that was never used level 1. I wasn't sure if the rerlic needed to be fully leveled or if there was some level requirement. I'll try again, but so far the button is also disabled

I'll have to test it with a lower level relic, but the "Select for Summoning" button is always greyed out for me. If there is a level requirement, it should mention it somewhere. It just lists the level range that I've seen, 1-16 for this one.

I thought maybe it was assigned to the plinth and so couldn't be used, but if I deselect it from display, it won't show up for summoning.

In your screenshot you have two relics; the first one summons a Vivified and is currently level 12 (max 16), the second summons a human and is currently level 10 (max 24). Even if you unassigned them from their plinths (they should show up in the list again once they have been hauled to storage), I don't think you could use either for a level 1 new student.

Edit: since it looks like you only have those two relics that are linked to a specific faction, and since the two of them are linked to *different* factions, removing them from from the plinths won't help: you need to have a vivified relic on a plinth to enable summoning vivified students (for example), but you also need a *second* vivified relic to actually give to the student you summon. So in any case, you need more relics.

Edit redux: Here is the screen I get to select a relic to summon with; I can only select relics of level 3 or below. The ones above level 3 can't be selected, and show a message about the required mage level.

You need TWO relics from a certain race. The highest's one should be "DISPLAYED" on an archive room. Then, you can choose the Lower one at the summoring altar in orde to be able to summon a given race student.

You can, in fact, have a student start out with a relic far higher level than they could otherwise bind.

The limitation is that you have to have a higher (or maybe equal?) level relic of the same affinity sitting on a plinth in an archive, separate from the relic you want to use in the summoning. And it has to be a faction relic of course.
Thx for the info
